H. Esau Akrill

£195

12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller
Used - Very Good Condition Harpenden, Hertfordshire
Side by Side, -, -, 28" barrels

Description

Henry Esau AKRILL owned a gun shop in Beverly, Yorkshire opening in 1838 and finally closing about ten years ago. They commissioned guns to their own specification from various manufacturers, probably in Birmingham, and then inscribing the rib with their own name. This led to the confusion of two serial numbers, in this case 6336 for the original maker and hea11483 for the Akrill records.
The side by side has plain action with traces of case hardening, double trigger and auto safety. The stock of 15” inc a 1” extension shows a better grain than normal on a plain gun. The fore end has a snap on action and still shows crisp chequering. The 28” barrels are very good for a 100 year old and choked ic and ½ under an unusual swamped rib.
The gun is loose on the face which is easily and cheaply fixed (approx. £45) and the hand looks like it has been strengthened but otherwise this is a very nice historic English shotgun priced accordingly at £150.
Phone on 01582 768617 or text on 07453506500 rather than email.
