Redm0002
25 guns came to Redbournbury for the shoot on Saturday 02/03/2019. The day was mild and mostly cloudy, which helped with visualising the targets. Not always easy when the sun shines brightly, which it did on occasion. We are seeing more and more new faces as a result of word of mouth recommendations. All say it is an enjoyable and friendly shoot. If you have no-one to come with, there is always a group to join to take you around the ground. Not everyone turns up for the 12:30 start now, so the groups are more spread out and there is less queuing. Now we can start looking forward to the days getting longer. The ford remains low, not that there are usually many issues with it. But some people need reassuring. NEXT SHOOT 16/03/19 STARTS 12:30, last card 15:00. The shoots will continue to be held every 2nd Saturday right through the year. All new shooters will receive a mug listing the shoot dates for 2019. £16 for a 60 bird Sporting Clay shoot. £13 for a second round. SGC required. NOTE: Fibre wad cartridges only, max shot size 7. Cartridges are available for £5:00 / box of 25. Can be bought in bulk (£50/250)(£200/1000) if stocks allow. Shoot starts at 12:30, currently last ticket is 15:00. (Last ticket time extends to 16:00 with the daylight hours increased through Spring/Summer). Safety Equipment must be worn: Hat, Safety Glasses, Ear Defenders. Semi-automatic Shotguns: If not carried in a slip, a breech flag MUST be used. Only 2 cartridges are to be loaded when the gun is in use. Safety Tape: Tape is used to mark off all areas where shooters MUST not cross. To do so could result in them being hit by other shooters. The shoot is held over 6 Stands offering a variety of targets, using Standard, Midi, Rabbit and Battue clays and are shaped by the features of the scenic ground. No two shoots are the same. The site is on a flood plane, so can be wet and muddy underfoot, walking/hunting/welly boots are advised. Tea and coffee is included on the ticket. Full English Breakfast Bowls, Bacon rolls, Doughnuts, Chocolate and Soft Drinks are available for purchase. Ample parking. WC. The site is best approached from the Harpenden to St Albans Road (A1081) via Beesonend Lane. Follow the Brown Fishery and Black and White Shoot signs down the lane for 1 mile. At the ford turn right and continue along the lane to the site. The short length of ford to drive through is only inches deep. The fishermen that come to the site never have any problems. 13/14 days the site functions as a day ticket fishery for Trout (Lake 1 and R.Ver) and Mixed Coarse Fishery (Lake 2). Want to try fly fishing for trout or coarse fishing for carp, tench, barbel, chub, bream, perch, roach and rudd? Taster sessions can be arranged. Lake and Chalk Stream Trout fishing for £15!!! Brown Trout to 4lb in the river (catch and release only). Note: The Brown Trout River Season is now CLOSED until April 2019.
