trapper trev
called my mate steve sunday night ask him if he would like to go for a run for a fox. we agreed to meet about 9.30 at the farm. this was about 6.30 when i rang steve. so me and hewi went off rabbit shooting for a couple of hours. when we got there it started to rain i said to hewi i dont thing steve will come now anyway. about 2 hours later steve rang and asked where we were i told him we were at daves rabbit shooting the rain had steady down. and there was plenty of cloud cover. so off we went to meet steve. it was about 9.45 when we set off, the wind was getting up which was a good thing the first fox we got in the lamp was gone like a bat out of hell must have been lamp before. anyway of we went again.1 hour had passed and we were on the last run because hewi was up in the morning for work and he was getting tired :( :( steve said we should go down to the bottom end of the farm to see if there is anything there so we all agreed. it was about 10.45 and steve put the lamp on the field where we saw the first fox it was there looking straight at us, it was about 250 yards on top of a brow it was not safe to shoot so i said leave it will get it again some time. we turned round and saw a fox looking straight at us.it was about 180 yards. i tried to call it in because i could not get a clean shot, but the fox went down the hedge row i said give it a minute to steady down. there was trees in front of us so we had to lamp through the gaps in the trees, there it was looking straight at me about 85 yards , i got myself ready and said to steve when you are ready. he put the lamp straight on to it, i could only see its head and neck so i took a neck shot, down it went. good shot steve said it never felt a thing, where did you aim? i answered at its neck thats the only good part i could see. we went round to get it and there it was . even if i say so myself it was a good shot straight through the neck. any way thats another one out of the way thanks for reading this trapper.
