Holland&Holland
Hi all, been a while since my last post. I have been for work to the Czech republic. I have visited all the large ecoducts they have build. An ecoduct is a sort of wild life bridge where small and big game can cross infrastructure like highways. In the Netherlands i am involved in the builiding of these ecoducts and was asked to go on a expert visit and see how the Czech use EU money to build these ecoducts. Quality is really good (quess because we are paying ). Sorry, enough about that. Been to Germany for roebuck. Largely hunting from high seat but also some stalking. While stalking one morning i saw a roedoe with two calfs further up the slope. Stalked them up to 40 meters but the doe spotted me and took off, fortunately one of the calfs was too curious what a strange animal i looked like and stayed round too long. So shot the calf, was 6 kilo's cleaned. Have been sitting on high seats quite often and saw quite a few roe but the bucks where too far and with the doe's and calfs i was asked to shoot the female calfs only. So if i was not sure wether the calf was female i didn't shoot. Had my eye on a roebuck who behaved strange. Sat on the nearest high seat for two mornings and a evening, no luck. On the last morning decided to have a stalk. And in the last stalk of the morning i spotted the roebuck. It was laying in some cover after it "hopped" over there because of some recreational disturbance. Took a long and good look. Didn't move untill 30 minutes. Got on to it's feet and was limping with the front foot. It was still in the cover and when it stood still i shot it in the neck. Not my favourite spot to shoot but figured i had to get it. Dropped on the spot. When i came near i could see that it probably had an accident because one of it legs was really thick and full of fluid (puss?). Also the head was poor, and it was rather skinny (12 kg). Hopefully the pictures from photobucket work this time Also had a lovely day out on a friends new permission, going for roebuck on the 31 august. Season closes at 1 september for roebuck in the Netherlands. On this evening between the 4 of us we shot 3 roebucks. One about 6 years old, one about 5 years old and mine was one year old. Some nice thropees and we had a lovely evening in my friend's hunting cabin talking (and having few drinks) about the past evening. Again i hope the link work because they are nice pictures.
