Gun Watch
Parker & Winder £150 12 gauge Shotgun Private Seller Used - Average Condition Eastbourne, East Sussex Hammer, -, -, 30" barrels Description Antique Hammer Action Side by Side 12g Shotgun. Damascus steel barrels, 2 1/2" chambers and Nitro proofed. This gun was made circa 1880's and is engraved Parker & Winder, Birmingham". This was a department store style ironmongers where this gun would have been commissioned for sale by them. The firm is still in Birmingham today. It would have originally shot black powder but was re-proofed between the 1920's-1950's. The obvious problem with this gun is to the walnut stock which is cracked and has been glued. The repair is effective but looks rather poor. The wood has obviously taken a lot of oil over the years too. The 30" Damascus barrels are in very good condition inside and out, the action works as it should though the springs for the firing pins could do with replacing and can stick. Both hammers and the spring/trigger action locks and firest as it should. The butt plate features a very nice embossed scene with a stag and another deer. Overall a nice piece of English herretage - I've never even fired it though and only kept it as it interested me. There is also a box of black powder cartridges available seperatley should the buyer with to test it and have some fun. I am currently planning to move house and wish to reduce the amount of guns I have so it's time for this one to find a new home. The seller of this gun doesn't appear to be a Pigeon Watch member, to contact them please use the details on Gun Watch.
