Hand guns were a lot easier to control when you needed a license. I could walk from my house five minutes down the road to the pub and pick up a full functioning semi automatic pistol for about £100. If I was either a common criminal of just some violent scum bag I probably would. I'm not either of these types of people, but I think there are a lot of people who are. You only need to look on youtube to see the extent of hand gun crime and thats only the kids.
