Hodmedod.one
My Firearms licence expired on 23rd January. I posted all the renewal application paperwork to the Firearms Dept on 21st November, recorded delivery. I had the FEO visit a few days later. Phoned the Firearms Dept. on 24th January stating that my licence had expired and I had not received the new one. I was told "The licence was generated yesterday, 24th of January and sent out by 2nd class post". I pointed out that the 24th was actually today, not yesterday and was told "well it will be sent out by 2nd class post today then". A week later, still no licence. Just phoned them again and was told "It was sent out on the 24th, leave it until after the weekend before contacting us again. Phone the Post Office and see if they know whats happened to it". How the Post Office are going to track an unrecorded letter is a mystery to me. I asked why we have to send documents to them by recorded delivery when they use 2nd class post to return them and was told "because it's too expensive". The same day as I phoned them the first time I ordered some inkjet cartridges from a supplier in the Channel Islands. They arrived next day. I have a regular Post Lady and have had no problems with my mail for years. Someones telling porkies methinks.
