Robbo100
Just paid my £24.99 for a spotting scope at Aldi. I thought this might a cheap, tacky, poorly built item. It's not. It appears to be German and we know about their optics. It exudes quality, and even has a 20x-60x zoom eyepeice. It is rubber armoured, has an extendable lens shade with folding cover. the eyepiece is angled, ideal for prone rifle shooting, or stalking, It comes with case cloth and small wide legged prone style tripod in it's own case. the tripod alone must sell for a tenner eleswhere. I also have a Nikon Fieldscope that cost £400 in 1988. Now pushing a grand. The difference in optics? very little. Both scopes loose resolution at 60x because the zoom simply enlarges part of the image. 20x-35x nice and sharp. My Fieldscope has the same sort of zoom eyepiece for about £135 when I last looked. If you want to cover the optics with a photo filter thats going to cost more than £25. Can't go wrong.
