taz24
I was invited to shoot at the Reindeer site near Wakefield by Peter. I traveled up there and found the place easy enough, it overlooks the National Colliery Museum just out of Wakefield (thats a good day out as well but another story). Everyone turns up at 0945 and then make their way down to the site on foot. The site is in a disused quarry and the shooting is varied and challenging. Everyone shoots the first stand and then splits into two groups, each group alternateing the stands. Some very challenging shots but all very do-able as the regulars proved. The shooting was excelent and the banter was second to non the only let down of the day was my shooting again, but I'm not bitter or twisted . I loved the rabbit which was ran down a chute and then had to be shot as it apeared through the trees. Because it is a quarry there are not many high birds which I liked (although my score did not reflect it ). All in there were about 25 shooters and at £15 for fifty non member I was very impressed. Prize money for best pair of shooters (not sure how they were paired up) and the pairs then continued the contest in the Reindeer poolroom. A well organised, very safe and enjoyable site. A hugh thankyou to Peter for the invitationand a big thankyou to all the others for making me feel welcome and for not appearing to notice my bad shooting so much . Look forward to going back again. Cheers taz.
