sillyfergus
Hello people. I am new to this forum, also new to this airgun sport. What i am after is some land to decoy on. I live in an apartment in Birmingham, so even zeroing a rifle in is a problem, i have to travel 25 miles or so to an old rabbit haunt just to do this. (i used to fly falcons) So im looking for somewhere closer. Can anybody advise of web sites or contacts? I am also having a bit of trouble with my .22 Hornet. It is Zeroed at 25 yards, shoots high groups at 15 yards, but at 35 yards the power seems to vanish and they are grouping okay, but about 3.5 inches below the zero? seems like a big power loss over 10 yards is it just gravity? 1 of 5
Firstly, no-one is going to give you land. It's too hard to come by. You'll have to go out knocking on doors yourself. You can try TPC but the emphasis is on self help not just handing out land. http://www.total-pestcontrol.co.uk/ You could try a local club. Some clubs can be found here. http://www.bfta.org/MAINPAGE.html Your Hornet's power can't be accurately estimated without the knowledge of which pellet you are using. Assuming AA Fields then it's way under power at about 6.5 ft/lb and shouldn't be used for hunting until fixed. I assume you have sufficient air in it. sillyfergus
Thanks for the links. As for my Hornet. Im using Webley Lazadomes. Normally charge gun to 200 bar using hand pump. Going to take it to my local shop tommorrow for check up. So what sort of deviation should i expect from a pcp that should be running at normal power with a zero at 25 yards? 1 of 5
About 1.75 inch low at 35 yds dependant on scope height. ~I've assumed medium mounts for the eg.
sillyfergus
Hornet is running at 11.6 ft/lb with lazadomes. Using high scope mounts could have been my problem. Plus all the windy weather couldn't have helped. But i have decided that a full charge is needed after every 20/30 shots to keep the rifle running at this pressure. I have put a new scope on for the high mounts and the groups are still together with a 1 inch (ish) deviation at 40 yards. Thanks for the help. :yp:
