peter-peter
I would not broadcast on this forum that the farmer has lent you his gun and you have no sgc

myzeneye
mate, im in the same fix..... i am ( and have been for a few weeks now, with several delays, namely cash flow) about to apply for a sgc. this week, deffo. trouble is siting the cabinet. only my trouble is wife not mother.... my choice of site is either, in the loft, bolted to an internal, yet, brick wall... (concrete block)....its actually stronger than the breeze block inner course of the external walls...floor is borded out, light is up and loft ladder installed.... does any one see a problem with this second choice is in the garage, which is detached from the bungalow...on an external brick wall.... garage door is normal up and over type, but the garage is on the house alarm...... anyone see any problems here??? finally, i was about to buy a brattonsound 2-3 gun cabinet ive seen online for £75 new & delivered !!! but then i realised it has no lockable shelf for ammo.... i think would have to buy a seperate ammo safe, so this doesent work out at such a good deal after all, unless anyone can suggest a place where i can buy an ammo safe of some sort.... i dont know what the spec or siting criteria has to be for ammo storage so if anyone can confirm, great... or if anyone can suggest a 2-3 gun cabinet with ammo shelf mucho cheapo id appreciate it. i plan on getting the safe, then cert then saving for a gun later at a more relaxed level when the lagal red tape has all been sorted out......... ive had the money together several times and everytime the wife informs me "road tax is due"..... mortgage is due..... holiday spends/savings.... etc etc.... i worked this weekend and waved the cash at her insisting "THIS IS FOR ME CERT !!!" ILL GET THERE IN THE END....
peter-peter
If you are talking shotguns not fac. you don't have to lock up your ammo. if you can bolt the cab in the loft thats the best spot for it. a bratton for £75 is very cheap. keep an eye on here sometimes you can pick up 3/5 gun cabs for about £
myzeneye
peter, where can i confirm that i dont have to lock up the ammo? i dont want to ask the firearms officer as it may indicate to him a lapse in saftey/security somehow... i will lock it up, but when i look at 2-3gun cabinets with ammo shelf built, there dosent seem a great deal of space in there anyhoo.... so i guess a seperate case is better... but if i dont have to lock them in a safe, that puts me back on budget.... i would make a fairly sturdy lockable cupboard to go next to the safe in the loft, just to keep them out of harms reach...... as for second handers.... by the time i pay delivery on a safe ( cant find one local- runcorn) its hard to beat that £75+vat brattonsound.... also, they do a 2-3 full plus for £85 +vat, but im not sure what the PLUS is other than it has two locks...... again, its not that i dont value your advice peter, but if i can verifie this anywhere, or if anyone else can confirm, id be gretafull... thanks again guys.... peter-peter
dont be afraid to ring your local fao, he will be pleased you are taking the care to ask. you can keep shotgun cartridges on your bedroom floor if wifie will let you' just dont leave em in the garden shed. your garage is ok.
