grandadbob
Hi Everyone, I will be doing some more decoying from a hide next year with the air rifle. I had some limited success a few years ago but one of the main issues I encountered was staying in a position with the gun ready for prolonged periods of time. With the shotgun you can have the gun ready and waiting and when the birds come in you can pop up and shoot over the top of the hide. If I was to do that with the air rifle, by the time I had stood up positioned the gun and tried to find the birds in the scope they would be long gone. I guess most people make a gap in the bottom of the hide and then lie prone ready to shoot, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience or tips in terms of shooting position and hide building. Cheers, Dave
Disco Stu
Depends on where I am going but sometimes I leave the hide out in the field margin for a few weeks and let grass and ferns grow around and in front of it. I take a carp fishing chair and sit in that with the rifle on bank sticks pointing in the direction of the decoys / bait with a small hole at the height I am sat at to shoot out of.
