dave1419
the marks you refer to[are there 2 of them] are the gas ports which allow the gas from the fired cartridge to reach the gas piston which in turn pushes back to allow ejection of the spent cartridge and loading of the next unfired cartridge into the barrel chamber. if thats not what marks you are refering to, and they won't disappear after a good clean then you should get it checked by a gunsmith or somebody you know at your local gunshop. normally beretta barrels are very well made and to get the best out of any semi-auto the secret is to keep them as clean as possible. hope this helps you

dave1419
thats what i thought they were, just use pipe cleaners to clean them, with some browning legia spray on-that will do the job. can you still get pipe cleaners in this day and age? if not just spray them with that legia spray--don't use anything thats made from hardened steel--hope this helps--dave1419
