stumpy28
went to my local gun dealer yesterday to pick up my new AA S510 realy excited. got there and he was just fitting the studs to the stock while i was waiting i was playing with the action, looked all good felt good but only had 50bar in it so i asked him to fill it up so filled it up took the filling adapter off and found it was hissing. on closer inspection the air was leaking from the middle of the aluminium block that the guage screws in to through a hole that you cant see i think there must of been porosity in the casting. so it had to be sent back to air arms before i have even taken delivery. realy disapointed and i would hav thorght that air arms would of noticed this leak in the factory when it was filled up. any one else had any proplems like this? noluv6
seen this on a few rifle's and you are totaly right they should of noticed this in the factory. Hissing at say 50 bar and under is common and not a problem, its the valve not having enough air behind it to shut it. This what you have is the gauge not in tight enough or o'ring gone or even worse the thread to wide. The bsa r10 has had load's go back because of this. Air gauge's are a wast of time in my opinion as they are never accurate but I guess they give you a idea. Can't see why your gun shop never had another in stock and just give you the other but I have had this problem and they do it basicly so it dont cost them nothing, you should of demanded it replaced on the spot and i recommend you do that in the futur if it ever breaks down as they can send it back and manufacturer can say it not there problem and then you get a post bill and every thing when really you were intitled to have it replaced on the spot. stumpy28
it the actual block not the gauge on the side of the block there is a porus bit. which is letting the air out abouve 50 bar. they didnt have another in stock but they have sent it away for me and it will be sent to me when it is repaired no cost to me. i realy disapointed as i was looking forwardto sing it over the week end
bullet boy
It`s a massive dissappointment is`nt it!It happened to me when i first bought my Rapid-the air was leaking profusely when i charged it!I did have my rifle back eventually with apologies from Theoben, but it should never happen!Quality control must have missed it-that`s pretty poor and any maker should check each rifle before dispatch from the factory!!!Make sure you get extras for the hassle that you`ve had!!!!!!!!!ATB. Carbonrocket
i think i might write to air arms about it to complain my dealer is sorting out sending it back Mention in the letter you have posted your sad issues on a large well read forum that are awaiting the response (word it better). And see they may well give you some goodies for your loss of faith in what will probably be an excellent rifle. Sometimes the squeeky wheel gets the grease! No harm in trying. airssassin
I had a similar problem when I bought my HW100K (new). I noticed that it was losing pressure. I took it back and agreed for my gunshop to send it to their gunsmith because it was going to be much quicker than sending it back to Hull Cartridge Co. I was miffed to say the least and I reckon gun shops in general could do with brushing up their customer service and knowledge of UK law. A straight replacement would be nice when you've spent your £700+ !! I won't be buying another rifle from that dealer.
