hi guys about three weeks ago i bought my hw80 at the time i forgot to ask for it to be chronographed.

but im more than happy with it to me its a fantastic piece of kit came with fitted silencer scopes and a custon ginb stock and it looks the dogs ********.

so i took it back yesterday to have it done it's my local shop so he done it FOC the guy done the shots through chrono and after said have the rifle back before we do the calculatingthen the gaffer done the calculator bit he said one of the readings got them a bit worried ie we would have to take the gun off you they thought it was going to be over 12ft pound but it was right on the limit of 11.95 lb's.

boy was i chuffed.

after leaving the shop pleased with my reading i told the misus about it and then realised that three weeks prior he sold my the rifle. making me think he should of chronoed it before sale.

your thoughts please

I would say that the shop who supplied it should definitely have checked it before selling it.

I would be worried that 11.95 is a bit close. A different brand of pellet (or maybe hotter/colder day?) etc could push it over the limit.

I have also got an HW80 which is close to the limit, but I am just running in a new spring. After a couple of tins of pellets I will take it back to be checked and if necessary adjusted.

What do others think is a good level to aim for, without getting too close to the limit?

Have adjusted mine to 11.5. When I first had it I was obsessed with the power and checked it at 10.3 ftlbs wasn't happy so sent it to Brocock to turn it up only to find I didn't really notice any difference between 11.5 and 10.3 plus I was out of pocket. Adjust it myself now (I have a chrono) as I dont want to risk it going over with heavier pellets. My thinking was if I want a more powerful air rifle get an FAC ticket, so I did. Just cant afford FAC rifle at the moment. In the mean time I will keep my non FAC to around 11.5 with AA hunters
