Nancy Askew
Hi, New to this site. I recently came into a Fred Williams SxS 12ga with exposed hammers. I can not find any listing in the blue book of gun values nor any web sites by googling. I was hoping someone here might have some ideas. thank you for your help all. palombier
NA There are 2 Frederick Williams listed in the Birmingham area:- 1. Frederick Williams 1873-1900, 47 1/2 Whittal Street 1873-1876 then 33 Weaman Street 1877-1900 2. Frederick William Williams 1881 -1883 49-50 Weaman Street. That's as much as I can tell you. clayman
I sold a std boxlock S/S this year, ser 8****, for £270 in usable but un-restored condition. These are competent guns from a small manufacture, Many equivalents around and of no particular merit in the gun I had, but that does not mean the maker did not make anything from keepers guns to premium pairs, with values accordingly. Value is simply condition on a gun like this - £50 for bordering proof, pitted, dented, etc £200-400 for usable gun Maybe £5-600 if its in prime or restored condition. Other factors like the engraving quality, wood, barrel patterns ( if Damascus), proof level, single/double cocking if hammer, action type if not, BL or SL etc will also influence value.
