AndyCM
Met up with Lurcherboy tonight for a bit of foxing. Headed to a couple of patches that had recently been cut, spotted some eyes at the edge of the permission (against a hedge, behind the hedge is a park ) so lamp off and we call. Lamp back on and the fox comes in too much - nice and close but a difficult angle, I'm twisted up trying to shoot off the roof, no good so move to the ground - fox starts moving away but keeps looking back. Trigger pressure is applied a couple of times but the fox moves at the last second - no shot. We keep looking around in case there are others that have responded to the call. None have so we keep on around the edge of the field and catch up with the fox again. Same thing, lamp on him and he doesn't sit still, moves away and then responds to the call, keeps reappearing but just not long enough for a shot :( Off we move again as the fox has vanished for now, back to a small promising field that we have just passed and a pair of eyes again a fair way off, so try and roll the car a bit closer, we close the gap a bit but there is too much noise from the long grass so we stop and take a look off the roof. The crosshairs are pointing his way, lamp on confirmed fox - the one from earlier ? Maybe, maybe not but he stays put - POP, one to the chest and a nice THUD. He took a bit of finding. The drizzle lets up for a while and then returns, a couple of other sightings (and a badger) in another field but no shots - one way off, too far for me and another we get a glimpse of as he makes off. A good laugh along the way too. Cheers for lamping for me tonight LB AndyCM
