    Hi guys

probally a very long shot but if you dont ask you dont get.

I have had my fac (.22lr and .17hmr) for about a year now but im struggling with permissionsnow. I had 2 small permissions but one has been sold and the other is very small. (40acres) so im looking for somewhere else hopefully local to crawley in west sussex.

its quite hard around here as there are alot of estates and shoots around here so alot of land has been taken up.

I have been lucky to have been taken out by good friends and i would like to be able to re pay the favour.

So if anyone hears of anything and dont want it/cant manage it please could you let me know.

    Many thanks guys

  2. I had read that the brain shot is not the best of idears, and miss witha 308 and hit the jaw, that thing is not going to have the best time i supose.

I saw a video of digweed shooting them and he said that he shoots them in the head or neck?

The cutting the neck would be a bit terrifying i bet but it woul help with bleeding out also.

I plan on hunting one eventually so hearing how others do and dont do is a good insight.

  3. I don't know who was more shocked and scared me or the boar  it took a brief moment to realise what it was, I was obviously blocking the path he wanted to go,luckily it wasn't huge , but a fair size, blinking fast and agile i will say that for it

i bet, i would have been on my toes haha

  4. Yes, i have heard about them in the forest of dean and that the numbers are getting a little out of hand.

The other day i went with a friend to fly his harris hawk , while there the farmer told us that he had boar on the land. So naturaly while we wandered with the bird we had a look for sign, we found a few tracks and a small piece of woodland in the middle of a field that was turned over but that was all.

He told us there are alot there but they normally venture out at dusk or night. Even he is suprised at how easily they can dissapere.

I think they would be a good challenge to hunt, but i bet they can be frustrating as well.

  5. Hi guys

Been watching alot of stuff lately about boar in europe and the US and it got me to thinking.

I have only wver seen one and that was a fleeting glimps locally and thats it. I know we have them local in sussex but they are bloody good hiders.

    So a couple of questions:

    1) have you ever seen one

    2) have you ever hunted them

    3) what do they taste like (iv had farmed boar meat.but never wild)

    Thanks guys

    John
