I'll have to disagree....... The last picture on the thread (not the links) shows the following proof marks from Birmingham: 10.6 BNP 410 65 950 BAR Guess what BNP stands for ? That's right : Birmingham Nitro Proof. Used after 1954 to the present day This gun is proofed for Nitro/Smokeless loads

According to the proof marks this gun has been proofed for 65mm / 2.5" cartridges. It would have been subject to reproof after the barrel extension was fitted. Hope this helps.

I beg to differ. I have four post war Fazakerley manufactured No4's in my collection. All have inscribed/electropencil serial numbers and bolt numbers. Two of them came direct from military storage in original factory wrappings and in original cosmolene. They are 100 % genuine as is, in my opinion, the rifle offered by this seller. FWIW : I have never seen a stamped serial number on a post 1946 Fazakerley rifle. All are scribed on, rather crudely I might add.
