  1. Congrats buddy! Ive been clay shooting since Feb this year. Couple weeks ago i shot a round of skeet at my local ground. Everything felt perfect, my stance, swing, timing etc and i was on course for my first straight. I was amazed i never missed a target, my highest score before that was 18 with an average of about 12. Anyway station 7 came and i still hadnt missed, i smoked the single birds then got ready for the pair... "Pull!" ...i busted the low bird on instinct but the High house threw a no bird Re-load... "Pull!" ...EXACTLY the same thing happened . Needless to say i was a bag of nerves so i psyched myself up while he cleared the trap and readied myself... "Pull!" ...One pair of Birds Oblitorated, this is it i kept tellin myself. All i could think of was gettin my first patch to put on my new skeet vest . I could feel my legs starting to tremble and i shouted for the option bird ( i chose a low bird as i blatt it every time!) *BANG* straight over the F#£*$#*£ top!!! I couldn't believe i missed a sitter like that. Absolutley gutted, but ho hum i'll get it one day! .oO( i wonder if the C.P.S.A do an English Skeet 26 Straight badge?) Technically thats what i got Now i'm stuck on 23 lol, take care, Chris
  2. Hey Gibby! Not quite Coventry, but a 10 min journey down the M6 and your at my glorious home town of Rugby! There's two gounds that i go to regularly. But the one that would probably suit you most would be Barby Sporting Club as its open on the Saturday ( would have been goin this afternoon but im on nights tonight ) for practise -Click Here-. There are a couple of Skeet layouts, English Sporting, ABT, DTL, Compak and theres a high tower too I think Prices are about £6.75 upwards per round. The other ground is Cosford Shooting Ground, my personal favourite! Its only a modest club in comparison to Barby but its a very friendly atmosphere. -Click Here- Saturday is Air Rifle day at Cosford though and the Clay shooting takes place every sunday... so you could always pop down if your still in the area. Im not 100% on the prices for non members but i pay £4.50 upwards for a round so its a little cheaper than Barby. Hope this helps fella! Regards, Chris
  3. Hi folks, Im Chris, im 24 and i live in Rugby, Warwickshire. I just got my shot gun cert this year and after about 10 years of baggin bunnies with my air rifle i am slowly gettin bits n bobs of decoying gear together. Ive spent a small fortune but its worth every penny!! I love roaming about or hiding up with my gun after pigeons. The vast majority (bar a couple acres of woodland) of my permission is Oilseed rape which was getting hammered about 4/5 weeks ago and held some quality shooting over decoys. Only trouble is now all the rape's so high its impossible to shoot over. I was just wondering, bein my first proper "season" and all, what do you guys do in between this stage of crop and harvest? Its so frustrating not being able to head off to the fields as often as we were and if i continue shooting the rate of clay pigeons i am of late then i sense a remortgage coming on.... Thanks for reading and i look forward to hearing your advice! Regards, Chris
