  1. Its fixed in 4 places with U bolts to the front carrier...L shaped with a box in front. I think i'll just make a new one with some small vibrating conveyor mounts and a good ballast weight. It worked on a search light I did a few years back, after a failed attempt with it slung off springs!
  2. I have a rifle rest that I built out of box section 10 years ago that bolts to the front carrier for lamping the rabbits. Its been on 5 quads, 4 Honda's 1 Kawasaki with no problem but the TGB Blade 425 I've got it on now vibrates too much for a steady shot. I have tried switching the engine off with each shot but that's a pain, lights off the cigarette socket and ignition needs to be on and its a real pain starting it up with a rifle in hand! The bikes only 6 months old so I cant mess with it, I've only just got it back from the suppliers because the gearbox went bang! Any ideas on how to isolate the rest?
  3. Ah yes my mistake! don't know why i put squared, I think i was trying to work it out in metres squared as i wrote.
  4. I think size depends on the suitability of the location but a meter squared per bird is a good size. For warming a wood some giant Miscanthus grass on the windward side worked on my old shoot but it all depends on location again. Put a lot of thought on where you site it! We built a new pen last year and 2 new flight ponds. The pen was flattened by trees in the gales and the ducks on the ponds flew out too low over the guns on one side of the wood and too high over the guns on the other. Hopefully we'll have better luck this year!
  5. We've been given the all electronic 500cc model demonstrator while it being repaired. Guess what... its stuck in diff lock and the independent suspension on the back means you cant have any weight in the trailer without ploughing up the track with the hitch!
  6. Has anyone tried one of these? Blade 425 SL 4WD We bought this quad new for our shoot 5 months ago but its been nothing but trouble! 3 times its died on a feed round, the first was a cable plug an socket coming apart , then a switch broke (mounted underneath for everything to catch) so it wouldn't start, then it emptied its fuel tank, flooding through the carb over flow (and there's no fuel tap to stop it). Each time the suppliers were called out, twice to the field! The latest is the gear box after complaining that there was a problem selecting high/low/reverse and that it wouldn't move unless you turned the engine off. Well something in the gearbox has now gone BANG throwing the rider who was standing nearly over the handle bars! It now changes gear on its own! The suppliers (a small local engineering business) have said all the others they've sold have been fine, although I have since heard that quads were a new venture for them and we were the first to buy one! The beaters joke about it saying its a road quad with agricultural tyres, and no one wants to use it. I think it will have to go!
