  1. Got a life thanks, unlike the poor ****** reported in this tragic incident. I'd be the first to complain about do-gooders moaning about stuff on this forum but this partiqular story I found upsetting, maybe me being a farmer and spending hours on a telehandler every day made it strike a nerve that normally wouldn't affect me. It's correct, someone elses opinion is none of my business, therefore my opinion is none of theirs

  2. I have only half realised its Cup Final day today. :D

Usually I would be glued to all the pre match entertainment, replays of "how they got to Wembley", etc.

Because its two "unfashionable" Clubs (sorry Portsmouth and Cardiff supporters), I am hardly interested and if the rain stops, I may not even bother to watch the game.

I hope Portsmouth win, as I like Harry Redknapp.

For me, the fact that it's 2 "unfashionable" teams makes it more watchable, makes a change from the big money clubs inevitabley lifting the cup, also being Welsh, albeit North Wales, I shall be cheering on Cardiff. Also Katherine Jenkins and her great set of lungs  makes watching worthwhile

  3. ive had a close shave with a dairy bull on our farm, i was in the middle of a field too with no cover when he decided to go for me :good:

Yes some bulls are nasty, as you say Fresian Bulls are one of the worst, we've got a big old Hereford bull that's looks the part but is soft as sh#t but all the same he keeps the chavs fom taking shortcuts through the fields :good:

  4. Having thought about my earlier post saying they are predictable there are obviously exceptions to the rule, as has been pointed out, a cow with a newborn calf is quite rightly going to defend it's young. One of the harsh realities in this job is that you can't let a cow become attached to it's calf, the sooner the calf's taken away the less likely the bond develops, occasionally we've had a cow calve during it's dry period a lot earlier than expected in a field away from the farm and in this situation we'd be very cautious approaching the mother.

  5. ive never trusted cows... big moody beasts.. unpredictable at the best of times....i hate walking through a feild of them,, especially the type with horns !

As a dairy farmer I would disagree, very predictable in my opinion, don't know the facts of this tragic incident but they sure as hell don't stampede unless there's a damn good reason for it.

  6. I thought the L200 was the class leader on these? - It has won several awards.

They might not have the same towing capability as the Rodeo and Landy, but you dismissed the landy for comfort, which is where the new L200 is very good IMO

You can get a lot of equipment and accessories for them too, thought they can come pretty loaded?

Have you looked at the hilux too?

The landie truck cab was dismissed for being to expensive more than anything and the fact that unlike our current defender, it only has 2 seats now, there's 3 of us on the farm and ok, most of the time 1 of us can just jump in the back for journeys round the farm but when the 3 of us need to go somewhere further I'll be ******** if I'm freezing my rocks off in the back(being the youngest it would prob be me in there  ).Compared to our P reg one it also seemed very cramped, they've done something different with the dashboard design and both myself and brothers knee's were a tight squeeze under the steering wheel. We went to see the L200 again this morning aswell as the Hilux, very unhelpfull to point of being rude in Toyota (ok we were in our work gear)so ****** them. The opposite in Mitsubishi, great vehicle, but the bottom line is Isuzu are offering a much better deal and a lot more for our old landie (although might buy this off farm myself yet, not that the old man will give me any better deal than anyone else :good: )

  7. The best tow vehicle ive ever used was an A reg merc Gwagon, still drove like new and a very good turning circle and loads of pull.If you do want a double cab then id seriusly consider a hilux.

My next truck will probably be the new discovery 3 comercial on the basis of top speed, turning circle and refinment ie aircon although the price is eyewatering in comparison to say a hilux.

Can just imagine what the old man would say if I suggested Disco 3 :good: Popped to see a Hi-lux this morning, only tows 2.2 and is pricier than the Isuzu, nice looking vehicle mind. I appreciate what your saying about turning circle but we only tow couple of times a week so hopefully won't be big issue

  8. A lot being mentioned about X box breaking down as mine did before Xmas,(when the 3 red rings light up) but to be fair, rang the m.soft helpline and they told me they've extended warranty to 3 years to cover this fault, was picked up next day and back with me fixed within fortnight

  9. Just curious if anyone has any experience with one of these, considering changing the farm defender (97 P reg ) for one March 1st, have looked at the Navara and L200 but the Isuzu wins out on towing capacity (3tonne) and also slightly cheaper and better equipped. Went to Landrover yesterday for price on new defender, but think it's out of running, still no airbags, aircon, abs which of course is all standard on the jap pickups, plus no middle seat now because of EU regulations :good: I know what some will say,it's still a Landrover at the end of the day but can't justify the extra 2 grand over the Isuzu, although the landie does have 3.5 tonne towing which is handy when there's 4 finished beef cattle in trailor. A few farmers have changed there defenders for Isuzus round here lately so they must be doing something right!
