  1. I know this is an old topic.

When I was in West Sussex. My FEO told me as long it was land that had been approved for that caliber regardless of who it had been approved for.  It meant if I had permission I was good to shoot.

When moving to wales last year my FEO told me I had to have written permission for every piece of land I want to shoot. Logged and stored with the Police.

The exact act same wording on both certificates.   I have no issue calling to check it is already cleared if the land owner doesn’t know.   But not all the people round here like the idea of signing something and having police visit just to let me get a few rabbits.

  2. As a general rule I would have either snapped the neck or clonked with a priest before videoing, it's just the type of thing the Anti's love to use. Wouldn't be impressed with someone using my house as a backstop either. Be it a rented from Estate or owned myself. I don't want to sound a kill joy, looks like you had some good fun. I am sure not all of us ALWAYS do everything by the book, but there were a couple of glaring 'make us look like amature' moments there. :)

  3. MY old Mans HW77k I learned to shoot with, it's underlever not break barrel and a little weighty but it's with a walnut stock and raised cheek piece. He has had it donkey's years and so far the only problem has been the catch for the under lever but that was easily replaced. It's accurate and reliable. As for the Eliminator i'd rather staple my foreskin to the mast of a sinking ship than rely on that hateful piece of detritus.

  4. That was an overly heavy Bisley Magnum. They are very accurate but the parabolic curve is bad. With those you need to know your mildots well. Re zeroed today with Airarms Diablo Field. A much nicer tradjectory and a bit of an old favourite when I used to use my HW77k. But the Bisleys were all I had left with yesterday after all the garden plinking with the knock down targets. **** poor planning I know.

The stealth preferred a heavier pellet. Or should I say disliked less and a heavier pellet.

Waiting for my neighbour to come back to me now with my offer on his dive bottle. :) I may have gone a bit low with the offer but surely thats what bartering is about.

  5. so much more consistant than the Stealth. I love the stealth other than it's penchant for chucking out fliers. I can't trust it to hunt with.

The Rapier I have spent the last few days putting rounds down it in my parents garden (much MUCH bigger than my garden) at various ranges with a few different pellets. A good few hundred rounds and the only misses have been of my own doing it seems to be a VERY accurate air rifle. Looking forward to getting out more with it. I was a bit cold last night and after while decided I was happy with christening the gun and would head in.

I can't play tonight but hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get out again, hopefully the bipod I ordered will arrive too.

  6. Took the chance last night after finishing work and walking the hounds to get out over the cricket pitch and adjoining paddock.

I let the farmer know I would be out past midnight. Whilst walking the hounds the local plod stopped me in the road asking if it was my pickup with the back open. "Yeah theres ****** all in it" she pointed out that she had checked and there was nothing in the back except a fold up shovel and gaffer tape. She thought someone was out burying bodies. Nice WPC had a little chuckle. As she was there told her I would be out in the fields later. She said if any calls come in she would cover them off so I don't get disturbed. I seem to remember I think her horses are in the paddock that the rabbits are decimating at the moment.

anyway I digress. It was a stunning evening if a little brisk. Lots of wildlife on the move. Badgers, Foxes, Roe and Fallow Deer. Lots of things to spook the bunnies. One bunny shot nice clean kill just inside of max range i'd take a shot with a non FAC air rifle. The rest I could hear in the hedgerow but they didn't want to come out and play. I must try and get permission from the adjacent land owner so I can work the warren from both sides.

  7. As kids my brothers and i would buy toy soldiers from the 50p stall at the market ( not that anything was fifty p) stand up the blues and green around the end of the garden then you threw a di number in that gave you your number of shots. Five second limit on each shot. One of the few games having the cheaper rifle with open sights was useful. Honed your acquisition skills. Ended up with smashed flower pots. One shed window. A bike sadle and countless yellings at to not shoot the fence
