  1. Hello everyone, I have just found out the news this morning that Lilah is safe and well with my parents. They had a tip off that Lilah was in South Wales, and although the police and dog warden went to the house and couldn't find her, my parents also visited the house and then put flyers through all of the doors in the local area and put up posters. She was released that evening and picked up by a member of the public. She is home! I can't believe it, i really can't. I want to thank you all for all of the help that you have given us over the past few weeks, it is certainly the help of your all that has bought her home. It just took one person to see a poster and put 2 and 2 together. Thank you, i don't know how else I can express my gratitude, thank you, thank you, thank you.
  2. This is really great news! We have Lilah back, after 3 weeks. We traced her to West Wales. We reported this to the police and they attended a property(four days later!)and reported no black dog there. We went to the area and put up posters and posted fliers through doors and talked to the people at the property in question. That night a member of the public picked Lilah up wandering the streets in a nearby town. He took her to a local vet who read the chip and we fetched her today. She was very frightened to start with but is back to normal now. Great result.
  3. Still no news yet but she was in the second page of shooting times last thursaday, so that must of getten some publicity, all we can do now is wait for news, lm sure we couldnt of possibly tried any harder to find her, with everyone on the forums giving us support, advice and helping us, its been humbling to know there is still plenty of good people out there. We thank you again. kind regards, Chris and Ella.
  4. Thanks for that, yeah the cpsa sounds like a good idea, l will get onto that. Keep spreading the word, thanks again.
  5. www.twitter.com/Delilah_baker Sorry I didn't seem to link her twitter page properly!
  6. My girlfriend has been down at Blenheim searching for the past 2 days with no luck. Lilah should be in the shooting times next week. Please please keep passing this story on, we need as many people as possible to know about her disappearance. It only takes one person to know something, or someone who has recently acquired a one year old black lab after last weekend. She is on Twitter My link too. SOMEONE MUST KNOW SOMETHING. Thank you so much for supporting us.
  7. STILL NO SIGNS OF HER YET. FINGERS CROSSED WE GET HER BACK. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP LADS.
  8. Alright folks, still no sign of lilah, but we have got a lot of publicity , she must be getting too hot to handle now. The local newpapers in oxford are doing a article about it, she is in the shooting times next wed, and we have people putting posters up around oxford and the surrounding area. I do believe it only takes one person to see the posters with information regarding lilah's whereabouts and we might be in with a chance of getting her back- especially with there been a reward out for information leading to her safe return. The thing is we live in the north east, so its difficult for us to put up posters in and around oxford.....so l am asking a big favour, Do any of you live in the mentioned areas? even further away would be worth a shot, would anyone print off the link attatched with this and maybe put it up in their local area?? It would be doing us a massive favour. She is desperately missed. Thanks again, Chris n Ella. My link
  9. WELL SAID, WE'LL KEEP ON TRYING AND HOPEFULLY ONE DAY SHE WILL TURN UP. THANK LADS.
  10. Hello there, We're looking for any information about our Black lab that went missing at the CLA game fair on Sat. I see that there is a thread about dogs getting pinched - it was our black lab that went missing. She was in a stall with me, and gone the next. We thought she had just run off, but as time passes it looks like she has probably been stolen by someone. We are desperate to get her back - she is a useless gundog and not worth anything to anyone. She doesn't even have good breeding - just a pup from one of our friends dogs - no FTC at all. She is a very much loved member of our family and we are beside ourselves with worry. The 5 hour drive home yesterday was unbearable. If you have any information about her whereabouts at all please please contact us. We have put notices out with everyone we know up and down the country, in every shooting community we know. She is on doglost, notified with all local councils in the area and on every forum we can think of. She is microchipped and they have been notified. There is a cash reward for anyone who gives us information that leads to her safe return. Thanks for your time.
  11. Hello there, We really need your help. We lost our wonderful black lab at the CLA game fair this weekend, on the sat about 2.00pm in Gunmakers Row. She was in a stall next to the shooting times stand. We went to look through the sights of an air rifle and when we looked down she had gone. She may have disappeared through the back of the tent. She is approx 1 year old, solid black, with a very small patch of white on her underbelly - you have to look hard for it. She is very timid in nature, and a fairly useless gundog - so of no value to anyone, but an extremely loved member of our family. Initially we thought that she had gone missing, and was hiding somewhere but as time has gone on, it is now looking like someone has taken her. Please please look out for any dogs that might be for sale, or anyone has acquired a new dog since the fair that seems suspicious. She is microchipped and we will offer a cash reward for her safe return. She means the world to us, not as a gundog, but as our pet. She answers to the name of Lilah. Any help would be more than appreciated. Chris.
  12. Hello there, my girlfiend is getting into shooting and she has got her licence sorted out. We are after a 20 bore over and under lincoln premier or something similar, with 30 inch multi choke barrels. The gun will be used for rough shooting and driven so the weight ideally about 6- 6.5 lbs. We are located in the north east of england so someone close would be ideal. Or if anyone knows of a gunshop nearby that has one in to this scec please let me know. Our budget is 400- 450 pound. Regards, chris.
  13. thank you, sounds like a sensible thing to do, l am infact in the process of building a rabbit pen about quarter of a acre ( no rabbits at first!) out of chicken wire and l think it might be our saving grace!!
  14. Ok thanks lads- not as easy as l thought then!! l will look into it and let you know how l get on
  15. l totally agree with you all but only if it was that simple!! First of all we never scold her when she comes back- even if she does not respond first time, and comes back when the hell she likes!! l agree that would certainly not help by punishing her, we only punish her when we can actually catch her in the act so to speak. Secondly the long lead works fine with her- she is **** hot when she is on it, 100 percent all the time at coming back in, she is a different dog off the lead though! And hiding away from her does not work unfortunately- infact l think she probably wishes we stayed in the house so she could do what she likes!!! I know the problem will be us not the dog, first time handlers were gonna make some MASSIVE mistakes, l know my next one will be better! And we were in a wide open space- a big crop field- and she actually ran about 300yards into the wood- head down **** up- and there was nothing we could do about it. WE were getting on great with her down the lane next to where we live, recall, quartering, sitting all to the whistle but this day she knew better. so l will take your advice to go back to basic training on the lead, and run over all those commands again, and try n be a little more patient- this must happen to everyone once in a while right? right?? god l hope so!!!!!!!!!! cheers chris n ella
  16. Hi there, I have a 10 month old pup who has been doing basic training since 7 month. She is coming on well, but we have some issues - in that every now and again she does a runner. Yesterday we lost her for a good 45 mins whilst she was merrily running through a forest. We've been told to come down hard on her, catch her and punish her when she does it. We are first time handlers and would like some of your valuable advice. Someone has told us that it is a cocker trait. Any tips for trying to stop this and keep her close?
  17. Hello all, l have been shooting for a good few year now, but lately l have been wanting to try something new. I am wanting to go to south west scotland and have a go at the geese on the foreshore- now l know that you have to be careful with tides etc so l dont want to go anywhere dangerous, there is about 4 of us wanting to try it, without guides or cost ideally!! So can any of you tell me where l get a permit- or do l need a permit for a certain place, l know nothing! Any tips on where to go, what time, what to do and what not to do would be great- l can imagine it been exciting sometimes, and very cold and wet at others! Cheer
  18. Right people l have looked into both of these rounds, the 7mm mag seems to be winning me over with is flatter shooting, can we just have a quick vote to see what you lads would go for and why, cheers.
  19. Ok, so l done a search of the forum and didnt find much information about both calibres. I am wanting the rifle for highland stalking/ and driven boar in europe. The 7mm looks better ballistically, with flatter shooting but which do you lads think would be the best rifle for me?? I got told from a wise old man to keep away from the 30--06, what does he know that l dont? maybe he is stuck in his ways! How bad is the recoil from both rifles with say 150 grain bullet? Any advice on calibres would be great. Cheers
  20. Hello there, My friend and l are gonna make some high seats for a friend soon out of box section steel. We are welder/ fabricators by trade, was wondering if anyone was interested in buying any. We can make them 2 or 3 metres high, and for 1 to 2 people, or custom build them to your own spec if needed. Just tell me what you want and we can see what we can do. We can paint them in black, matt green or get them galvanised- depending on how much you wanna pay for it. We are based in the north east of england, but if people wanted a few of them made we could ship them out to where ever. we also do welding repairs, other fabrication jobs and dog runs, as well as hydraulic cylinder repairs. If anyone needs any of these then feel free to P.M Me. Chris
  21. I was wanting one rifle for many purposes, leaving more room in my cabinet, and just one expensive scope. plus it's easier telling my girlfriend lm just getting one rifle!! The 25-06 would be used for foxes, and the smaller species of deer- this would mean been able to sell my .243 to get some money together for the Sauer 202 breakdown, as well as more space in my cabinet. i'm l been daft here- can anyone see a flaw in my idea??
  22. Hello all, l am fancying a Sauer 202 rifle with the changeble barrels, pref in 25-06 and 30-06. Has anyone got one and if so are they any good? Also does anyone know if l change the barrel from 25-06 to a 30-06, and l have swarski ballistic turret scopes will l have to sight the scope in again- so lm asking can l have both barrels zeroed in without having to change anything?? What do yous think about the 30-06 for use on driven boar? One last thing, do you know how much a new one is and a decent shop that sells them, or even one thats had light use?? Sorry about spelling its been a long night!
  23. Thanks for the replies lads, l just thought it might be a simple case of cleaning it or something instead of bothering the shop with it, but might have to. The extension tube is brand new so not sure if that makes any difference, l'll have a look to try n spot the ejectors, lm not very clued up on this gun yet. l'll have a bit more play with it as well. Thanks alot.
  24. Hello all, l have finally paid for my Benelli super black eagle 8 shot today, picked it up and went to give it a go, its second hand. I wanted to rattle some shells through it like you all would to see how it went but l was extremely dissapointed. Every spent cartridge got jammed in the breech- or the bolt that slides backwards and forwards, and it wasn't cycling another cartridge into the chamber- l was gutted. Its a 3 1/2 inch magnum chamber which can fire shots as small as 2 3/4 , l tried them all, but none managed to flow freely or cycle. What is wrong with this?? would a good strip down and clean help or is this a big problem?? Has anyone had this bother before and if so which cartridges should l be using? I shot remington heavys through it which were 64 gram no 3's and my god they kick you to death!! Can anyone suggest a good pigeon cartridge in 2 3/4 inch which will cycle through this gun? I hope its easy fixed otherwise l will be devastated!! Thanks for your time. chris
  25. Hello all, l have been looking all over but cant seem to find what l am looking for. What is the most grams of shot my 31/2 inch magnum Benelli shotgun will throw out of it and what size shot?? I have had 56 gram 3 inch AAA's before which were lethal, is there any 60- 70 grams knocking about in 3 1/2 inch? Don't ask me why l need them l just like experimenting as we all do now and again, and because l can! If any of you could tell me of a supplier that would be great, also do you know if ya can buy shells from the states and get them sent to a Gunshop in the UK?? Thanks a lot
