  1. I only shoot the foreshore. But that's my choice. As long as restraint is shown and the shot birds are respected and eaten then live and let live. No one should be judged just because of where they choose to enjoy their sport.

  2. Hi. Has the way the site is viewed changed. I was earlier an I could read everything fine on my phone. But know it's all changed and the writing is tiny. I have to zoom in and scroll all over the screen to read posts as I've zoomed so much.

Or have I have pressed something to cause it to happen

    Thanks.

  3. Your full of opinions on what us fowlers should do whitebridges. Well I'm happy for you to advise me on how we should get the government to change the law. You ignore the questions put you about what over forms of shooter and yourself have done. You just rant about us fowlers yet offer nothing positive. Do you just break any law you don't agree with in life. Oh and as for the Scottish not rolling over I have to use a non toxic load on the foreshore there just as I do in Wales.

I don't need lead for my chosen sport but I would fight for the right of game shooting etc to continue yo do so. I don't fox hunt but went on the March.

  4. Can I ask why your using a 10b as your main gun fella. Just curious. I too have a gold but use it mainly on the geese.

With gamebore no longer making rhino it only leaves remmi and Winchester. Nieher are cheap. Plus with alliant disappearing even the home loading side is getting more difficult.

I use a kicks choke in mine by the way.

  5. If you don't mind spending check out bass boots. A few of my fishing mates have them. There are amazingly well made and they walk for miles in them, scramble over barnacle encrusted rocks climb cliffs etc.

They really are very good but expensive. I use ocean for fowling and I'm happy with the wear I get out of them.

  6. Well said Bakerboy.

I go back to my earlier point, there is an awful lot of backslapping for the CA for their initial approach, but was it actually merited, did it have the requisite quality, or was it just a bit of pitch fork waving grandstanding noise that actually did very little to advance anything?

From what I see the impact was the crime stoppers number was dropped, so a good thing at face value, but likely of very little consequence at all.

The other thing was that the re-issued letter actually weakened the case of the shooter because it relaxed the reasons to justify a knock on the door from the police, very subtle but significantly more impact than getting rid of a number that no one actually knows.

BASC maybe didn't wave and rattle their pitchfork to satisfy the clamour from some of the shooting community, but thankfully they did keep their eye on the detail and when all the initial furore dies down that is what really counts.

Better in my opinion to take a little bit of time and do the right thing instead of going up like a puff of powder just to be seen to be doing something.

+1. Also people moan about not getting a response off BASC. But how many actually contact BASC to ask them directly. Far to many come here moaning and expect David to answer 24-7. When I was not happy with BASC agreeing to put greylag on general liscense I wrote to Basc to make my feelings known as did many others, I also wrote to NE and they did not put greylag on the GL. Things can be achieved if the effort is made to do something yourself.

Re lead I see the government has just signed an agreement to phase out lead so not matter what BASC or any other shooting org do I truly believe its days are numbered, something else to lay solely at BASC's door.

  7. Thank you for the kind words, you were indeed fortunate with the weather. We were so pleased to see Dave drop a good bird on the first drive to relieve the pressure on the poor man. So glad you enjoyed the day, with you being our first ever paying guests were we very nervous about the day. Looking forward to enjoying you company later in the season.
