  1. Thanks - this hasn't even crossed my mind!! I currently share the shotgun cabinet with my dad, yet only I will apply for the firearms - therefore I suppose a new cabinet will be needed just for myself. Temped to apply for a .17HMR (long distance rabbits), .22(close range rabbits) and a .243 (foxes and deer).. What are your thoughts? Also all with moderators? How about ammo supplies?
  2. My shotgun certificate expires at the end of the month, and I'm keen to renew and also apply for a firearms license. However I have a few questions I'd like to clear up prior to doing so: Can I lock both shotguns and rifles in the same gun cabinet? If I apply for 3 rifles, do I need to show I have room in the gun cabinet to accommodate them? Can I buy a gun cabinet with a built in ammo safe rather than buying a separate one (like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261389354251 )? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks for the reply, some great advice! I suppose I would be looking at longer range rabbit shooting, can't get close to them down here!! So perhaps as you mentioned a .22hornet for long range rabbit and then a .243 for fox and deer? How quiet are they if I fit a silencer?
  4. Hi My shotgun license is coming up for renewal and I'm thinking of getting a firearms license to accompany it. I've been told I need to list all the guns / accessories I need prior to making the application? I'd be intended to shoot rabbits, foxes and deer.. I'm currently debating whether to go for a .22 or .17 hmr for rabbits - what are the main differences in accuracy / range? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
  5. My dad and I are looking for some permission to shoot on, we're equipped with both shotguns and air-rifles and fully insured with Countryside Alliance. If you're having or need help controlling rabbits, pigeon crows etc, then please get in contact. Many thanks

  9. The trouble is he is 17 and is now driving, he was wondering whether he could drive to the permission himself with the gun in the boot? I'm guessing thats a no? Thanks
  10. Right, my son is 17 and has a shotgun license. I'm just wondering what the law is for him travelling to our permission with his air gun or shotgun (in car). Can he legally do this? I understand the law allows him to shoot by himself once at the permission, but can he legally transport the gun to the permission on his own? Regards,
