  1. I dont seem to be able to decode how to put a photo in.....I will keep at it..cant be that hard...I have a Masters Degree...ha ha am an old school analog fellow mark
  2. Gang: While we do have a wild pigeon, the Bandtail, which can be hunted as a game bird in the early fall, my focus is on the barnyard bird. Know here as the Rock dove too, there are lots on the drairy farms I hunt. I also hunt an egg farm. what these places have in common is food, and roosts. I use 12 guage guns with 7.5 or 6 shot, and 20s with 6 shot. I have auto, o/u, and pumps. I would say that the A390, and my BPS 20 are my favs. I gnerally work the birds as they trade between food and the barns. this can go on most of the day, but I restrict my gunning to 2 or 3 hours, then let the place rest. I have also painted 12 dove decoys to look like pigeons and added a ROBO Dove tothe set. It is effective, but then I have had dove pitch intomy crow decoys too. The movement is very effective. What say you boys who gun for Wood Pigeon in the UK? I would like to do that one day..pant pant talk to me mark
  3. Thanks boys. If you have dogs, it is a task at the end of the trail. I am shure is up on the big bed eating some dog cookies wondering why I cant shoot very well. Now the new campaign..talking the ife into getting a new dog. Head down and swing... mark
  4. My lab, Raider went home today. he was very and it was the right thing to do. That being said, it is never a easy event. he was a good dog, and fine hunting partner. He house is emptier now. Very sad face. I expect he is on the big couch in the sky wing Fang and Agustus eating dog cookies. He was a good boy. Mark
  5. Gang: I was doing some homework on pirgeon shooting and poof...I found the site. It was not very active when I first found it. then there was the decoy caper. I found it a bit too problematic to order the whirrlygig outfit you use, so I painted a dozen hard body doves and got a MOJO dove. the set up works pretty well, but most of the pigeon I shoot are working a food source on a dairy. I keep an excel sheet, am up to 66 pigeons and 40 crows. I am just playing at it though. The fall and winter are best. It keeps me off the streets. be well mark
  6. OK- I think I have the photo thing decoded. (I am very analog) A nice morning shoot at a Dairy Farm I shoot. Just some bona fides. mark
  7. Just check to see if my photo is working. Awinter photo of me and my IDPA Stock Service Revolver.
  8. Thanks all: Nice to find a gang of fellows to enjoy the same things. Fav Pigeon guns: 20 bore: 1100, Auto-5, and BPS, 12 bore: A390 and a Ruskie o/u. I have also been know to get after them with my RWS M45 .177. My wife wont let me have a motorcycle, so I have guns. I am retired from the forces here in the US (COL), and my link to the UK is that my uncle (mum's brother was one of the Few..fly a Hurricane in 111 SQD out of Corydon. I look forward to chatting with you all, and learning a bit about pigeon in the UK. You know how we colonials are..can hang with the gentry. ha ha I see Harry in the US this week. I wacked 2 pigeon and 3 crow in an hour this morning..not really serious, just play at it today. Be well..head down and push. I like the Chief Joseph quote above...I live in that part of the US (Washington State). Pro patria
  9. Hello all! I am an old school water fowler who has drifted to the margins and now hunt crow and pigeon. It is grand fun and the land owner like the work I do. while I focus on barn yard pigeons, they are pretty savvy and decode the program quickly. Be happy to chat with anyone who wishes to post. mark
