I posted yesterday I was going Roost (not roast..) shooting today for the first time,got some great advice and tips as usual..cheers lads..

 

We got there for just after 3pm and and they were coming in like spitfires,high birds and I have never seen pigeons fly so fast...great to see.

As I mentioned this was my first time,what a difference to decoying.. a great experience

 

Made a couple of good shots and we finished on 13 picked with another couple we couldn't retrieve. Cracking couple of hours of sport

and thoroughly enjoyed it..

 

due to a fellow pw member,3 x firsts for me in the last couple of months.. beating/pheasant shooting and Roost Shooting..I owe someone a big cigar..cheers Buddy

Personally I'd put the word out amongst friends and charge them nowt, but I'd expect them to return the compliment. That's how you get some good free shooting built up without overshooting your own land.

 

Best advice on here + 1 from me you'll be surprised how quickly the invites are returned with most folks anyway.

October has been a very busy month... Granddaughter arrived.. and started a new Job.

 

Shooting has had to take a back seat and the next few weeks are looking just as busy.

 

Struggling to find the time for a morning let alone a full days shooting,had a great offer to go beating however had to refuse due to work load..

 

Reading a few posts it seems the shooting hasn't been to good so it looks like I haven't missed much,really missed the adrenalin rush..looking forward to getting out there again very soon.

As you already have somewhere to shoot could you not offer a swap instead, you take someone out in the spring/summer and in return they take you out over the winter.
