  1. I had a misfire in my CZ455 17hmr last night, couldn't cycle another round afterwards and on inspection saw that I had ejected the case but the bullet remains stuck about 2" in the chamber.

Any tips on how to remove this?

    Happened to me several times.

Never got a rod in the field.

So just take the next round and pull the bullet out(with pliers or leatherman type tool), chamber cartrige without bullet and fire the bullet stuck in the lands out. Then carry on with your shooting. :good:

Click on dentist and tick the box about accepting new nhs patients to get a dentist in your area. :D

    :hmm::hmm:

Did this and my old dentist who I had to leave as they no longer handle NHS patiets, came up as an option!

As a side, while I was abroad I broke a tooth and was in a lot of discomfort.

Went to a local dentist and had it ground down, refillied and sorted good as new.

Paid cash and went home happy!

Total bill was about £28.00 :good:

  3. I think you are quite right about it all :good::good:

All just marketing to make us feel warm and fuzzy.

My personal favourite is the clearing of rain forest to grow food to make bio fuel for my car, while a large part of the world population goes to bed hungry. :eh:

At least my car has reduced emissions

  4. They're **** vans anyway, overpriced and unreliable ####  :good:

    They're not that bad!

It's only the injectors that give up all the time :lol:

Without sounding too much like a screen wash geek! Screen wash should be used at all times, not just to keep your screen clean, but more importantly to prevent you getting Legionnaires' Disease

A work we go to all the trouble of testing water sources for Legionnaires' Disease, but the vehicals we drive around it can be the ideal locations in the screen wash bottle with no additive in.

    EPIC FAIL!!!

How many people do you know who got legionaires from their washer bottle?

  5. Seriously????? 2 pages on "my van doesn't have screenwash" ????

I recommend not using any in summer then using a mild soloution in summer.....otherwise you'll get that slimey blue gunk in the tank.....

and wipers don't need lubrication....just change them at the start of the winter....

    :good::good:

The vehicle was bought in the summer and came summer ready. My Transit was exactly the same.

Why spray a solvent based liquid(ethanol/meths) all over a brand new vehicle for no reason?

All it does is attack the wax based rust proofing and all the rubbers.

  6. Your advice please gents?

I would suggest you use the search facility, and don't post your final decision.

This has been done to death and has all the ingredients of a thread heading to be locked.

If you were anyone else the troll meter would be in the red by now.

Another argument between vermin shooters and wild fowler on the way?

  7. I've had a fair few transactions on here. The last one, I had the goods before I sent payment :exclamation:

I like to think it brings out the best in people, and find it encouraging that there are still people about who can be trusted.

People who abuse this trust should be dealt with severely IMO.

Hope my luck doesn't run out....

  8. I didn't think you could get one small enough to hold an HMR round.

Save the money and use pliers ;)

    +1 :good:

Pull the head throw the powder to the wind, bin the rest.

    Job jobbed.

It realy isn't such a big deal

Why go polluting rivers and farm lands?

I used to make 50ft flares with 7.62 tracer rounds(a lot of them). Never had an incident :hmm:

I must just be the lucky one who never got killed

  9. A friend of mine used to do alot of diving and has offered to sell me his dive bottle to charge my rifle 7ltr and 260bar which makes no sense to me what so ever as I'm new to all this. He also says the check or certificate has ran out!

So what I want to know is will it charge a BSA ultra which I'm buying also does it matter if it's checked or what ever he is on about seeings I'll only be using it to charge a rifle and not breath air. Lol

I need as much info as you guys can give.

    Thanks.

    Yes

If it fails the test it will be destroyed and you will have nothing to show for your money.

Buy one that is in test and SAFE!

7lt is quite small, but depending on how much you shoot and how close the nearest dive shop is for refilling it will do fine.

  10. Thanks for the Help Guys

GSM thanks for reminding me of Alan I had completely forgotten about him. I should be fine from here I think as the Kings are family friends. Fortunately I'm off to CPT on Sunday for business, I'll pop in and see him as I've got some duck hunting planned for next weekend in Nottingham Road so I'll be in the area.

    Enjoy the Safari I'm jealous.

    Enjoy :good:

I'll be in 'Maritzburg shooting pigs!

Then on to Zululand, Glen Garry (Nottingham) and then waterfowl in Matatiele :P:P:P

  11. Gsm1968,

The police air support units are not charities they are funded by the police.

Air ambulances are charities and deserve all the money they can get. Some of the police helicopters are shared with air ambulances like Wiltshire police/air ambulance.

Most police have websites for their helicopters and photographing them is not an issue.

    Harry

Tried to PM, but your in box must be full.

  12. Talk to BASC.

    http://www.basc.org.uk/

    :no::no:

As good as BASC is, I don't think they will be able to help. Getting the guns into the UK is the easy bit.

The hardest part is the paperwork in SA. As all firearms have individual licenses, you will be dealing with two sets of paperwork for a pair. The export permit system in SA is a nightmare and can take months(unless you go personally to Pretoria with the paperwork and "something nice for the lady"). After that the original license must be cancelled.(months again)

Easiest is to sign them over to a RFD. (Kings and Suburban Guns are/were agents for Holts)

Then cancel the licenses at a local police station.

Wait a long time till they arrive in the UK. Pay the money and put them on your SGC :good:

I would consider bringing the wood, cases, oil bottles etc over separately, as luggage on a trip out.

  13. Hi,

I brought in a Beretta from Durban useing Holts auctioneers, and it took two years! They imported a lot of weapons that were headed for destruction, so had to wait for a full consignment before shiping.

I also left behind a heap of other firearms for destruction, as the paperwork was killer. I think about a 20 page document for each one.(Still have a copy about some where)

A pair of H&H shotguns well worth the effort.

Gun went from Kings in Durban to Suburban guns in Cape town, then to norfolk and then RFD to me.

PM me if you need any more info.

But be quick, I'm away shortly for a month long Safari/holiday :yahoo::yahoo:

  14. Get Imodium Instants. Believe me, for such a very small tablet, they work!

EDIT. Did'nt brealise that you were in the airport, so a bit late for the advice I gave. Still, worth getting some for future 'problems' should you be unlucky to get them.

Living in Delhi He should always have a good stock of them.:lol::lol:

  15. Wasnt there some anti terrorist thing bought in about taking picks of the old bill

A lot of the ASU's are registered charities and have websites full of pic's. And people who present them with large donations have their pic's taken with the crew etc.

They are all only google search away.

The one's they don't want you to photograph are a bit more discrete.

  16. Should be with you within a week. rm have been takin a little more time of late to deliver. I got something from Japan quicker than I got something from U.K last week.

    :good::yes:

I've had a few were they don't even bother, just get a card in the post box to collect.

Reason - too big to deliver! Why would they accept it as a parcell if it was too big to deliver? Seems they are on some sort of work to rule around here.

The OP should just wait it out a bit, or go to the local sorting office and make enquiries.

  17. FYI the 7-08 rem hits harder in Ftlbs with a 140 grn bullet than a 308 win does with a 150 grn at just over 200 yds.. The 338 is overkill on any uk deer when run at lapua mag speeds. Basically for uk use the 7-08 will do it all, so saying "it isn't a big stuff calibre" might land you in it with the loss of the .338 unless you can prove good reason for non-uk use on the .338. There isn't anything in the UK you cannot drop with the 7-08 rem very effectively and you can bet they have that info to hand.

You realy should have given the .243" more of a chance with different bullets. Firearms will except a .243" and a bigger deer calibre as a norm, but two bigger deer calibres and you might start to struggle. It is not unknown for them to say "prove your non-uk requirement" or say " for use abroad only" I know one experianced stalker who is also an RFD who got so restricted on his Africa gun he couldn't even buy ammo for it while in the UK I have a feeling you might be getting into the same situation i got into with having too many guns with the same quarry listed

    :good:

    This all makes sense.

The bold bit makes me laugh, as all the African guys buy ammo here as they can't buy it there.

All the traditional big game calibers(416 rigby,500ne etc)use ammo produced by Kynock.:lol: This bloke was probobaly getting screwed on ammo produced down the road from him.
