  1. i have kept and bred all of the largest snake species over the years and yes they can be dangerous and yes they are capable of killing adult humans, but if precautions are taken, such as locked enclosures, a back up handler just in case and a bit of common sense and they are no more dangerous than any other pet.

we all use firearms, keep them secure under lock and key and use them responsibly. so its the same with anything,

ill bet the guy who left the python unsecured in the vacinity of a baby also has a 9mm under his pillow.

  2. if he is 17 or older he can ride up to a 125 cc motorcycle on a cbt.

the cbt is compulsory basic training and lasts 2 years, and can then be renewed or a full motorcycle test taken.

i am a motorcycle training instructor and specialise in cbt.

part of the course will be safety and equipment talk. (which i really try to drum into people)

if you need any advice or have any questions feel free to pm me.

i have found the most important thing to get into the younger students heads is to check their blind spot before they move the bike and also to hold their position in the road. too many younger learners have no road experience and so get nervous and hesitate when approaching junctions etc.

  3. yep, have had many in the past 18 years, including corns, kings, milks, boas, burmese pythons, reticulated pythons, rock pythons, anacondas.

also have large monitor lizards and snapping turtles.

  4. as said before, apart from locks, alarms etc and the house generaly looking secure, a dog can be a very good deterrant.

a feisty alert little terrier like a jack russel can do the job, or one of the traditional guarding breeds, gsd doberman etc.

we have an akita as does my dad who is the on site caretaker of a local primary school. the school was a regular target for the local theives and kids trying to steal or damage property, that was until this guy started patroling the grounds....

  5. the green is still pretty small but can be a handful at times, yea boscs are fantastic lizards mines great, comes out for a stroll like he owns the place!

also have two 8x4x3 vivs in there plus a couple of 4x2x2 vivs and tanks for the snappers.

have sold a lot of my stuff as things werent looking too good at work plus we were running out of space.

  6. We've had stacks at one point there was over 40 snakes, 20ish corns & rats, 5 royal pythons aswel as an albino burmese python , 4 common boas and 2 argentine boas 2 brazillian rainbow boas, a few rough green snakes, 2 boscs, 4 emperors scorpions, 2 chile Rose and a red neck tarantula , 2 whites green frogs aswel 4 green anoles, 3 beardies 2 chines water dragons , chocolate millipedes , hissing cockroaches but after my parents split up alot had to go.

They're now back together and we have 2 common boas one about foot, the other about 18 inches... Gimme the big old girl any day, the little fellas a feisty boy! bloody hell, you had a fair few then!

i mainly keep monitors now but have anacondas, carpet pythons and snapping turtles.

  9. hi guys, well havent been out shooting much and just as the weather is improving i go and dislocate my shoulder!

is there anyone in the birmingham, solihull area willing to sell me a few? preferably smallish and not skinned or gutted. simply headshot and frozen.

please get in touch if you can help.

  10. would definately reccomend a dog, a nice scrappy terrier, sheperd, cane corso or akita etc.

wish my nan would come round to the idea, she lives in a high crime area and has had break ins in the past.

  11. sounds nice to have them mooching about the country and a bit chilling to think of bumping into one. but cant say im a beliver sorry there is not one slice of footage iv seen that made me think other wise. that kids face would have been ripted to shreds i watch the doc on that story what a load of munty balls

i do agree that the photos ive seen really dont prove anything and im sure if it really was a leopard that attacked that kid he would be sporting more than a few scratches, my jack russel can do that playing around!

but i still believe it is possible they are out there (among other things)

  12. i personally have never seen one, even after spending days in observation posts and nightime standing patrols etc on exercise with the armed forces in some very remote parts of the uk.

but i do believe its possible they are out there, a few years ago a common caiman was found in a lake in the midlands!

ever since the dangerous wild animals act was brought in ensuring keepers of dangerous exotic animals were licensed and had proper experience and housing for such creatures the trade in these animals hasnt stopped. i have kept reptiles for most of my life and have been offered many illegaly improted animals during my time, for those who have the money and the connections it really isnt that difficult to aquire alligators, cobras, monkeys or indeed big cats.

i think its entirely possible for someone to get hold of one of these animals only for it to escape or be releasd once it became too much of a handfull or the reality of keeping one really set in.

i doubt they are here in sufficient numbers to breed as that would need an adult pair of a particular species in relatively close proximity to eachother but a slow trickle of these animals escaping or being released is possible.

  13. hi guys was wandering if theres anyone on this forum whos a member of a long range rifle club?

im ex forces and going for my fac and would really like to get back into long range shooting, so if anyone has any info/advice id be very greatful.

im in no rush to get out and would be looking to start my club probationary period after xmas and start saving for a half decent setup.

    thanks

  14. Something I've seen put to good use in the past is a hole in the chicken pen fence with a cage trap securely fitted in it. Foxy sees the tunnel as a potential entrance and walks right in there.

hmm sounds a good idea... but what then? shotgun?

have called the feo today and the land has not come up on their records as having been previously checked so gonna have to either work my charm on the landowner (after all its him who wants me to shoot the foxes) or go down the shotgun route?

  15. To be honest they don't snoop around, and are barely even real coppers! Often they are civilians employed to push a pen. From my experience sometimes all they have to do is turn up and look out of the car window and they have no interest other than to check the ground is safe.

I know it's tough talking to land owners about these things but I do feel that if your chap knew more about how these things work he'd be a lot more easy going about it. I think some people feel it may be like being raided and searched but it's not. A shotgun could work, but it's very hard work compared to a rifle!

i know the guy quite well, long before i ever shot on his land and he is a really nice bloke once you get to know him. but also a stubborn old so and so.

after researching and asking on here etc im sure a hornet would be ideal and safe to use on the land, but if he dosent come round im stuffed.

im down there this weekend so i'll work my charm on him and see if i can change his mind.

don't really know shotguns too welll only having shot them twice at the range. i'd much prefer to use a rifle.

im much more confident in my ability with a rifle, have fired many thousands of rounds during my time in the forces (not the same i know) but know to stay within what im capable of.

  16. some very interesting replies there guys and i thank you for taking the time to help me out.

have had a word with the landowner today and let him know the score and fac procedure for land clearance etc. ... long story short he has no problems with me shooting on there, (sub 12 ftlb air rifles) as i do and really needs the fox problem dealt with, but does not want the police snooping around.

so as its my only fac suitable permission im stumped (unless its been pre cleared)

have already bought and fitted my gun cabinet so now thinking of going down the shotgun route.
