  1. Hey guys, Julia (from Nottingham GC) here.

All of our rounds are marked so you can shoot skeet by yourself. You can shoot whichever pegs you like if not ready for a full round yet. If you don't want a marker with you then we also have a clay mate system for skeet and DTL. There are plenty of new shooters who would happily go round with you if you want company. Or we have instructors who will just button for you and then give you pointers either at the end or when you ask.

Ask about Sunday club next time you are up, it is a group skeet session with an instructor for the newer shooter. We do everything we can to get you shooting safely and confidently, either by yourself or with others. :)

  2. Come to Nottingham - we are a friendly bunch and will look after you and introduce you to some shooting friends.

On a Thursday night we tend to have a group of guys about your age that shoot who are super friendly.

We open till dusk on Weds and Thurs nights - I also work Thursday nights so give me a shout and I will look after you.

  3. We are holding a 'Have A Go' evening on Friday 25th July 2014 at Nottingham & District Gun Club.

4pm till approx 8pm - no need to book just turn up on the night.

£10 per person for 15 Clays and Cartridges.

5 Different stands with a different type of target on each stand.

Everything provided - Clays, Cartridges, Guns, Instruction, Insurance, Eye Protection, Ear Protection etc.

If you are in the area then why not bring a friend and get as many people trying out our sport as possible.

We normally get a few take it up afterwards but even if nobody takes it further then at least everyone who does attend will have better knowledge of what we do. These nights raise money for Notts County Shooting and educate people in the area about the professionalism of the sport.

If anyone wants any further info then don't hesitate to the ground on (01623) 883798

    Thanks

    Julia

  5. Hi Liam,

Our neighbours went out of business last December, we have now expanded into the space that they left and developed a lovely new English Sporting range.

To give you and anyone else full visibility of what we charge please read the info below.

We charge £40 for your first lesson as it involves approx an hour off range (going through all the safety info - your other half may know most of it but we ensure anyone who is taking lessons with us has the same basic grounding before they even start).

After the off range session you will then go onto the range with your instructor for a 50 target session (this normally takes about an hour but we try not to work in terms of time becasue evryone is different - it will take as long as it takes!)

Any further lessons that you have with us are £35 and are all practical on range sessions on a one to one basis. Each lesson includes 50 clays, 50 cartridges, instruction, loan of all equipment including gun (we have a range of different guns so will be able to find one that suits and make adjustments to get it just right) and insurance. You will not have to buy any equipment until you are ready and if you need help choosing a gun - our instructors will very often travel to the gun shop with you to make sure you are buying what is right for the disciplines you shoot - this service is not charged as it is something they do on their days off out of the goodness of their hearts!!!! (Bless them!)

When you are ready to practice on your own we have some stepping stone sessions called Sunday Club - they are for new shooters who shoot in a squad with group support from an instructor (they bridge the gap from one to one instruction to shooting a full round in a squad).

Once you have completed all of this you will have a really good base to build on - at this point if you want to take it further then there are a number of excellent coaches that can take your shooting to the next level - Ed comes highly recommended by anyone that has had any sessions and is based in East Midlands.

Hope all that helps but if you need anything else just let me know.

    Cheers

    Julia (NDGC)

PS We also have a couple of Shotgun & Chelsea Bun Club days booked in - these are ladies shooting days that invlove a day of instruction and cake :) Great for shooting ladies to meet each other and build a network of shooting friends.

  6. If you don't get a Sunday let me know and we can recommend somewhere for you to stay over. We will have a normal registered comp in skeet running alongside the English on the Sunday and will also have practice in skeet and sporting available.

You may as well make a weekend of it, the notts countryside is at its best in may :)

  7. Hi Bunnykiller, thanks for the offer. We haven't started doing any planning for it yet but think we might be ok for refs.

Will defo keep you in mind though. Send me a quick email at the ground on info@nottinghamanddistrictgunclub.co.uk

    Thanks again :)

  8. Hey Gee - it will be entries via CPSA website, we'll be able to take entries in the week leading up to it but not until then. If you are looking for a Sunday slot you will need to be on your toes!!

Forgot to say (hence the edit), that we are really looking forward to it too.

Make sure you say hello :)

  9. Nottingham & District on the A614 north of Nottingham - 8 skeet layouts, specialist skeet instructors if you'd like some tuition and the place where most skeet shooters will be hanging out this year as we have a very busy skeet calendar :)

We also do skeet workshops on a Sunday afternoon if you are new to the discipline

Give us a call on 01623 883798 - we have loads of regular shooters who come from Sheffield so could introduce you to some for potential lift shares

  12. That's great news, nice to see a ground moving forewards and doing something for the shooter, unlike some other grounds, i'll make the trip down and support it !!

Thanks Azzurri, it'd be great to see you. If you want to book a space just give us a call or email us on info@nottinghamanddistrictgunclub.co.uk

We do try really hard to grow and develop our facilities for our shooters as well as trying to offer good value and exceptional customer service.

We have been limited with the space that we have had but since Oxton have closed down we have been itching to get in there and develop our facilities.

Carl Smith (the Ground Owner) works tirelessly, as many other ground owners do, and the improvements he has made over the last seven years are very visible. Our growth is testament to his commitment and passion for the sport.

And to top it all off it is still only 50p for a proper mug of tea or coffee!!!

  13. We have finally secured the land that was occupied by Oxton Shooting School and big plans are afoot.

We will obviously be increasing our number of Skeet and Trap layouts but the really exciting part is that we will be opening a 100 bird Sporting facility.

We are hosting an All Round this Sunday which includes the East Midlands All Round Regional Championship.

The good news is we will be using 4 of our new Sporting stands for this event, so anyone who is feeling a bit curious (or nosy!) should come and shoot the All Round and have a look at what the future will bring

All feedback and good ideas would be welcome.

If you would like to book on, just give us a call on 01623 883798

It would be lovely to see some of you and if you do come make sure you say hello to me, I will be taking the money and collating scores. (The little gobby one!!!!)

    Cheers
