  1. Hi Ryan,

You are absolutely fine to use fibre or plastic. We also allow steel shot at the ground (as long as you are not using the pattern plate.

Hope that helps but if you need to know anything else just give us a call on 01623 883798 - we are here seven days a week for enquiries and Wednesday through to Sunday for shooting.

    Cheers

  2. Ever thought of trying out ABT but have been put off because you have to referee?

Come to the East Midlands ABT Regional Championship at Nottingham & District Gun Club on Sunday 4th March, the ground will provide the referees so all you have to do is shoot.

    Entries are 9.30am - 10.30 am, call to book on 01623 883798

Hope to see some of you.

    Cheers

    Julia

  3. which days are you open for dtl practice please

Sorry for the delay in replying :/ I have only just seen the message.

Weds & Thurs: 10am till dusk

    Fri & Sat: 10 am - 5pm

Sun: After the competition has finished, always phone to check what time this will be.

Hope that helps, hope to see you soon :good:

  4. Take a trip to Notts instead, we have our Boxing Day All Round. Great atmosphere and if you are not sick of Mince Pies by then there are normally some complimentary delicious home-made ones.

    Hope to see you here.

  5. We charge £35 for the first full lesson - about an hour of this time is spent away from the layout talking about safety, the nuts and bolts behind the sport, gun fit etc. Then the second hour (approx - but it is not set by time, it will take as long as it takes) is spent on the layout with one to one coaching from a qualified instructor. Included in the price is 50 targets, clays, cartridges, loan of gun, vest, ear protection, eye protection and of course tea/coffee.

The second (and any subsequent) lesson is only £30 as it doesn't involve the in depth off-layout session.

It is false economy for any ground to over charge new shooters - if it is too expensive people will not take up the sport and then we have no future.

I despair when reading topics such as this!!

  7. Hi All,

If you want to keep up to date with what's going on in the East Midlands, why not like the new facebook page.

Banter, jokes, photos, stories, reviews, reports (basically anything shooting related) would be most welcome.

Hope to see you all there.

    Thanks

(The link will not work but if anyone wants it just PM me)

  8. Thanks guys, it's always nice to get some positive feedback :)

We are so lucky in Notts to have a choice of grounds, there are plenty of shooters that have to travel many, many miles for a shoot.

Hope you enjoy taking up the sport Martin, looking forward to seeing you soon.

    Julia

  9. Hi Martin,

Give us a call at Nottingham & District Gun Club. We have a good community of younger shooters and offer free membership to under 16s. We also do half price shooting for juniors on a Saturday. We could do lessons for all three of you together, so it would be a real family day out.

Why not come to our 'have a go' night on Friday 16th September. It is being run by the Nottinghamshire CPSA Committee to raise funds for the county shooting teams & events. It is just £7.50 for 15 targets and everything is provided. You don't need to book you can just turn up between 5pm and 8pm.

Alternatively why not come to our BBQ night on Wednesday 7th September - we wont be able to do any tuition with you on that night as it does get very busy but you can get a feel for the club and the atmosphere. We have a live singer, bouncy castle and burgers/hot dogs for only £1 each.

    Hope to see you soon.

  10. Hi Vinny,

I am sorry that you have not had a positive experience and I am surprised to hear that as we have offer free membership to Under 16s and have members as young as 9 that shoot with us on a regular basis. I have only this week arranged some lessons for a 7 and 9 year old. Are you sure it was Nottingham & District that you enquired with?

Our policy is not to specify an age as it really depends on the junior, how mature they are and what their build/strength is, we actively encourage junior shooters to come up and try a shot (at no charge) to see how they like it before their parents spend any money on lessons or equipment - by doing this we ensure that it will be money well spent.

I would urge you to try Nottingham & District again, I can guarantee that you would receive a very warm welcome. Nottingham & District is at Far Baulker Farm at the top of the drive on the left. I hope you will give us another chance.

    Kindest regards

    Julia

  11. Just to let you all know that Nottingham and District Gun Club is most definitely open despite the weather.

Skeet Winter Series begins this Sunday.

There are 6 shoots in the series and you must shoot at least 4 to qualify.

High Gun £150, Class prizes £50 per class, 250 cartridges for the winning Lady, Veteran & Junior.

    Only one prize per person.

    Entries from 9.00am to 12.30pm

    5th & 19th December, 9th & 23rd January, 6th & 20th February.

Hope to see you there :)

  12. It certainly is Julia!! Is that my old school mate that we've not seen for ages?:hmm:

I totally agree, Carl is a great bloke and is really committed to the shooters not just out for himself which makes such a refreshing change (but don't tell him I said that - I'll never hear the end of it).

We are very lucky in North Notts to have a choice of good clubs/grounds and there is a something to suit everyone - try them all. You'll end up at Notts anyway for the good crack, the yummy food, good value and a great group of regular shooters whtever day it is.

Wherever you choose Martin I hope you have some happy shooting and a great time :hmm:

  13. Hey Martin,

If you haven't already got something sorted I can strongly recommend Nottingham & District GC.

Great facilities and amazing staff - but I would say that as I work there!

Give us a call at the club on 01623 883798 or let me know if there's anything you are unsure about.

    Hope to see you soon
