  1. Hi THESE GUNS ARE ACE, KEEP IT.

I BOUGHT ONE AROUND THE SAME TIME, STILL USE IT, DONT BELIEVE THE UNEDUCATED BULL **** SPOUTED BY THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER EVEN USED ONE,

THEY WILL HANDLE ANY CARTRIDGE WHICH SUITS THE CHAMBER, THE BARELLS ARE CHROME PLATED AND ARE TOLLERANT OF MISSED CLEANING OPORTUNITIES, AND CONTRARY TO THE KNOW IT ALLS THE WOODWORK IS WALLNUT, I HAD MINE APRAISED BY AN EXPERT.

I WILL EMAIL THIS TO MY SON.

  2. Lets get things into perspective, this attack on lead shot is the smoke screen to deprive us of our shooting in total, it will make older guns unusable through steel shot being imposed, it will make the cost of amunition go through the roof to a point where we ordinary blokes cannot afford it, I used to cough a bit at buying 2 3/4" mag no4s lead at 28 pence each a few years back, now I buy none- toxic shot at close to 1 1/2 quid a shot and and I am to frightened to use them untill I have forgotten how much they cost.

The report on Swan depicted on the xray did not identify where the bird came from and what other items are contained within the crop, they stated 'some ' shot was lead what was the other type? and what percentage, it is possible to identify the source of the lead shot through phorensic testing and data bases.

Is it possible these birdies are devious enough to seed the feeding areas to get the results they want.

As others have stated there is lead shot in the mud and ground that has been there for a couple of hundred years, over my sixty years being out in the field, wetland and recreational water areas I have never sean a duck , goose or swan behave as the mallard seen on the report, although I have seen birds with feather distortions due to being over fed on bread by kind bird lovers.

I think its time to stop as the blood preasure is rising.

Good shooting to all who are interested and damn to hell those who arn't

  3. Hi has any one got a spare butt pad for an early escort, the flat one with a steped recess to fit in the plastic butt, the one I have is 7/8" 15mm which gives a longer length of pull than what I would like, I am looking for 3/8" 10mm or less.

That extra 1/4" makes a difference to a clean mount and not so clean.

I would be greatfull if some one can put me intouch with one.

    Regards

found a source of DIY cheap lofting poles ?

These work ok, Cut them in half and use a 200mm brush handle plug to joint them, cut them square though.

  5. Hi

Has any one got a but pad for an escort 12 auto to sell, I think it is an early model, the one I have is 5/8" 15mm,

I could do with a very thin one to reduce the length of pull.

  6. PM sent

    HI APACHE

Thanks again, it was realy great of you, the lad is over the moon.

The gun clamp arived today, I was very surprised at the size and weight, so additional thanks for the expence you have gone to.

I have contacted the Humberside Firearms section who have said the gun clamp with one gun will be ok subject to the usual visit and compliance requirements, he can now start the process of applying for his certificate.

    Thanks again and best regards,

    Frank

  7. I have a gun clamp. For a single shotgun it should be adequate. It's the type that bolts to the wall and inactivates the gun.

You can have it for the lad if the police would be happy.

Hi That sounds great, can it be posted and what cost please.

    Regards

  8. Hi

I am on the scrounge basicaly, has someone got a cabinet going spare (for nowt)to get a young lad up and running for pidgeon shooting.

Once he has the cabinet he can sort out the certificate aplication and I will find him a starter gun.

He is trying things with an air rifle at the moment and got his first kill the other day, he is over the moon.

He has gone to great efforts and found land to shoot over but he will need to do more than play the part of a mobile scarecrow to maintain it.

Hope someone is in a position to help as his financial situation is as dire as mine, he is trying to put food on the table without getting locked up.

    With big hopes

  9. Use the 30" for everything I do and have no issue

And I shoot more in the hide than anything

Nice to hear things work ok for you, I have been down this route before about my preference for short barrels, which the usual reply is short legs and long barrels are not a good mix, I can put up with the long barrel when goosing, there are not as many shots fired or setting and collecting as many deeks if any.

I do manage very well when it comes to shooting the 30" however the shorter ones swing better on unpredictable pidgeons, I do have an Escort with a 25" & 28" barrel but still prefere the Browning

I do hope you are all getting some shots in this weekend.

  10. If the sx3 barrel fits they sell them at midway

    Hi sx3

This is sounding interesting, do these diferent barrels interchange?, I could also do with a short barrel for my 3.5" Gold Hunter 30" dont realy want to do wthout this long option its good for geese, shorter is better for pidgeons, has any one got any comments or better still a barrel for the same.

  11. Hi no doubt this topic has been aired before, could some one identify the different choke markings and terms listed in the numerous manufacturers and manufacturing country's shotguns.

I have been brought up on Cyl, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full choke descriptions. I now find various cuts in tube ends, descriptions of imp, mod, imp mod, ????, can any one help ??, is there a comparison chart on the internet ???.

  12. Hi Danny.

I have owned and shot with both sbs and o/u Baikals, I prefered my o/u and parted with the sbs which did not seam to have the 'live' feel which the o/u had,it felt a bit wooden if that makes sence, allthough I have a number of other guns the O/U baikal is the favourite, take no notice of the 'never had one' experts, these guns out shoot the top of the snob range guns.

Both the sbs and o/u older ejector models have a screw which you can isolate the ejectors if you prefer, I prefer the older sculpted stock models which gives it that uniqueness, and yes most are a walnut species stock not a railway sleeper.

I dont want to shoot mine to bits, so it is now in semi retirement, it will be there for my grand kids to shoot with.

I hope you have as much sport, fun and enjoymet that I have had which ever gun you choose.

    Best regards

    Frank
