  1. It's ridiculous, so why would they want people with minor criminal records to posses shotguns but not be able to vouch for someone else... In that case they may as well make everyone in this country with a caution unsuitable to drive, vote, have kids ,sign any legally binding document or work with dangerous plant and machinery.. It's a joke...
  2. They won't say who it is as it basically incriminates them... I've spoken to the firearms unit and basc and still Not really any the wiser.. Just very irritating to someone who has gone out of their way to keep pc plod and everyone happy by being a good boy and have this in the back of your mind...
  3. Apparently one of us is unsuitable.. Anyway I've rang basc and they say it could just be an admin cock up as there are two different checks. One is a pnc and the other is the shotgun licence check. Assuming only the pnc one was checked it could be the reason. Even tho I've been deemed acceptable to posses shotguns...if i am the unsuitable ref it makes A mockery of the whole firearms licence system..
  4. I've been a referee for a friend who has recently applied for his fac. I was given a caution nearly 7 yrs ago for possession of the ol wacky baccy. I was never prosecuted or taken to court. I was very up front with the police about it and I believe this helped me avoid further action. I have since gained my sgc and obviously this caution was put in my forms and me and my feo discussed this issue during my interview..he was happy that it was hickup in my younger days an granted me the sgc. My friend who applied for fac had a phonecall yesterday stating that one of the two refs was unsuitable. The other chap I don't know much about..would my caution deem me unsuitable to be a ref even tho I was deemed ok to possess shotguns? Regards
  5. Free to a good home. 2 White cockerels about 6 months old. Judging by the colour they look like leghorns but I cant be 100% as I was given a whole batch of birds the same colour. They are both well handled as I reared them myself and have already started mounting my hens. They need to go as soon as possible or the misses will end up wringing my neck.. Located in Lakenheath Suffolk.
  6. I take it that it has to go to London or Birmingham or are there other proof houses that rfd use for reproofing?
  7. I haven't done anything yet.......And if I do have contact with a reloaded so he will prep me a proof load. Then it will be a very very long piece of string and a bench vise about 7 miles from anywhere
  8. 20 years of engineering experience, common sense, the ability to know my limits and the fact that no law is broken or will be because I'm not trying to sell it...
  9. You have a scaffold punt gun??? And folks on here are worried about my nc machined chamber??
  10. 21g comp x number 7s perfect nice light clay load, I've just moved onto 28g number 6s eley impax and so far not too bad, went for fibre wads tho as I was on a pheasant shoot during the season bit still love the cheap and cheerful 28g comp x. I seem to hit everything with them. I must be used to their speed.
  11. I also have an unknown Spanish 12g sbs and it kicks so hard after About 10 shots my Middle finger looks like a blind cobblers thumb!!! I like to watch my mates face when squeezes the trigger as he's got a 3k guerini and thought my yeoman kicks hard..lol
  12. We,re both qualified to the same level bar he did the hnc part where as I finished on the level 3 hands on part. It's his machinery and you know what old guys are like with their equipment. The tolerances will be very fine indeed. We will be using an " interference" fit which will require pressing to fit the new part into the reamed chamber socket. This will be an "S6" shaft based tolerance system if my memory serves me correctly. Normally to easily mate the two parts one is heated and other is chilled but obviously or this purpose a mild pressing will be needed and then the new chamber will be bore micrometered To check for any reduction in internal diameter Bored if needed.
  13. No money is changing hands and we are both qualified mechanical production engineers so I have no doubt his work will be equal to or greater than the original work. We shall be adding material so that nulls the "material removal" issue. The proof issue is a matter of opinion. If someone changes their chamber forcing cone length does this need reproofing? No!. If you buy a second hand gun from a private buyer there is more chance of there being a problem and I know what I'd prefer given the choice of a gun of unknown origins or one that has been personaly checked and any work done by competent engineers instead for Joe blogs in his shed with a few reamers and a ryobi cordless drill trying to squeeze 3" cartridges in a 2.5" gun.
