  1. phaedra. i have set up as an rfd in the north east (jarrow area) specialising in factory ammo and reloading components. Mainly because I got fed up having to wait for gear or paying stupid carriage prices. I am also a keen game and target shooter as well as reloader so know what people need. Pistol primers are typically £30 for 1000 federal and i make trips to kranks and hannams every few weeks. i havent started selling through the forums yet and will register as a dealer when i do. check out www.northernsportsmanltd.co.uk. Unless it states it all the material listed is in stock and i am happy to get small quantities in for customers. i also have a significant amount of once fired brass not listed yet. building stock is painfully expensive but i am trying. I apologise to the forum monitors in advance if i have overstepped their rules by posting this.
  2. Baz If you have a notion to try out full bore, I can give you contact details to let you try a ''taster session''
  3. Baz, I assume you are shooting at either Mayfair or Brancepeth Castle (Steves)?
  4. You possibly could if the land was already cleared for 30 calibre but I can't really see why you would want to. I don't think I have ever personally seen this type of rifle used outside of a range in the UK (although some may have tried it). My experience of this type of underlever rifle is that it will handle moderate loads but its bullet speed will be around 400 fps to 600 fps slower than a 308 with the same size round but no where near the same muzzle energy ie 1350 versus 2550 ft-lbs (for 308). In addition, I would not be confident this lack of energy would allow an expanding round to work properly unless you were really close to the quarry. For the price a good 30-30 costs, keep it for the range (cos they are fun) and think about a 223 or 243 if you want to seriously hunt live game. Hope this helps
  5. Don't let the Lee name put you off. It is cheaper than all the other names out there, eg RCBS, but it is superb value for money and will last a very long time if taken care of. Any reloading book will do however why don't you get the LEE manual?? Only costs around £15 and is a mine of information. Lastly, don't be afraid to ask questions, even if they appear stupid - they are not - this is explosives you are playing with so it is critical you get it right and of course everyone had to start some wherer!!!
  6. Hello Folks, From the Norf but currently working in the Essex area Been a long time lurker to the site and only joined recently. Picked up an outrageous Xtrema from one of the posters within my first week!!! Real gentleman to deal with as well. Been shooting over 30 years but fairly new to the shotgun game being mainly focussed on rifle shooting. Enjoy both range (a current RCO) and game shooting, instruct firearms, do a lot of loading, love stalking, foxing and rabbitting. Not an experienced shotgunner so hope to learn from the posters on site and contribute a little from my own skills.
