Thanks that looks like a good solution, I new if there was a need someone would start a business to fill it True, there's almost always a possible solution. How practical it is through is a sliding scale.

I'm utterly amazed that there is no safe escrow process for these kind of transactions. Even if I confirm someone's identity it's only a means to start my own legal proceedings, not what I'd call protection. Crazy.

What if I send the money and they say I didn't? I'm doubtful of this case but I like foolproof processes

Hi All, I've read the PINs but they don't go into much deal about the best way to actually perform the exchange/purchase of the gun. Other than avoiding risky methods like PayPal etc. I'm currently arranging the private sale of shotgun with another user and wondered how the RFD system worked. Does he take to it his local RFD who then ships it to my local one, just as if they're a secure courier. Then when my RFD receives it I go and take a look and if I'm happy BACS the money directly to his account. When he confirms it's arrived in his account he informed my RFD that they can release the gun at which time (or before) they also check my shotgun license. How do I authenticate that I've paid? I assume if there's a dispute over this the RFD will hold the gun until it resolved. Thanks for the help.

Thanks TBird I looked at my search again and spotted that I'd selected "Semi-Auto AND Pumpaction" which I wrongly read as meaning OR. So the short list I found were pump actions that could be set to also operate as semi-auto's (which I didn't even know existed). Cheers for the help.

I checked out about two dozen threads in the For Sale forum but the ones that fit what I was looking for all ended with SOLD :( It's almost like a gambling thrilling wondering if anyone will have brought it before you get to the last post All I found was 1 Benelli whose status couldn't be determined for sure so I PM'ed the member to find out. GunTrader was a good suggestion too but all of the ones they had available were 1K or above which is a bit more than I wanted to spend.

I was about to get a second hand Winchseter SXP but Sportsman sold it before I got the chance. If anyone has a something similar for sub £500 I'd be interested.

I saw one of those last week in Newport and decided to buy it lunchtime today. Damn thing was sold (it must have been sitting there since February and I miss it by one week). Does anyone know where I can pick one of these up? I've looked around online but no joy. Currently I have a Beretta A400 which is nice but tends to jam with cheap Hull cartridges so I shoot Black and Gold. This means I have the excuse that if I get one of these and it would pay for itself

I brought 4 boxes of 28g cartridges last week (all different manufactures) and every one went through fine So it looks like the weight was the issue and the lack of breaking in that caused my jams. I now very happy with my beretta and appreciate the advice I received on here. I found the ones I shot best with were Gamebore Black Gold. I was quite surprised how much difference in kickback there was too, the blue Eley First I tried felt like someone was hitting the end of the barrel with a lump hammer.

It's brand new so only 100 cartridges. What's the next size below 32g is it 28g? Yes I will have to see how I get on this weekend, hopefully it was just a little grease in the mechanism. Or perhaps the fact that I was shooting down so something was catching when the cartridges were ejecting. I have the light version, brought it 3 weeks ago. I'm still breaking it in but I've had trouble with sub 32g loads. To be fair the manufacturer recommends heavy loads but be warned no all grounds allow you to shoot them. This is probably all common knowledge but caught me out somewhat. I posted about my ammo issues and I've had some recommendations for alternative (sub 32g) cartridges in another thread. Hopefully they'll have greater recoil and help the action work more reliably. But once again the disclaimer: my gun is brand new so I haven't given it enough use for a fair test/review.

I thought there may be something like this available, i.e. a lighter than 32g cartridge that could provide greater recoil to help the semi's action. I shall see if my local retailer has any in stock this weekend. I need to stop in there anyway because the Jag they sold me doesn't quite fit on my cleaning rod.

Thanks, that's nice to hear. I think the problem was that the recoil force of the cartridge wasn't sufficient so it caused: -The cartridge to eject but the bolt didn't make it all the way back to lock when the gun was emptied. -The cartridge to be trapped by the returning bolt, pinning it in the breach. I was told heavier loads travel further and the boundary line around my local ground isn't very far out. I was actually wondering if I could say "can I shout a 100 at one of the rabbits?" since that's down into a dip and against the ground. It was pretty grease when it arrived. I brought a cleaning kit on the way home so it's since been cleaned and oiled. --- Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I've just brought an A400 semi-auto and had my first shoot today. The problem is that I discovered my local ground (Newport) isn't licensed for 32g cartridges so I had to shoot lighter ones even though the retailler and manual says use 32 when breaking it in. Most went through fine but I had a couple of jams on low traps (shooting rabbits below me). Now I'm not sure what's best. How import is it for the gun action to be broken in? Is it worth going to another ground to use the heavier cartridges for a couple of hundred? That aside it is a great gun and a joy to shoot

Thanks for all the responses, looks like I will be picking up a cleaning kit on the way home from TreeTops today From what I can gather it's worth me cleaning the barrel after every session but the bolt and trigger assembly require less maintenance.
