  3. A client of mine invited me to a days salmon fishing on the tweed. I had never held a 2 handed salmon rod let alone spey cast. had a fantastic day and saw a kingfisher as well as othe river wildlife. Anyway after a lovely lunch sitting looking over the river we went back into the water up to our waists and low and behold i caught a 9 pound salmon. What a buzz !

  4.

Out last saturday, with d.wright, on the bean stubble. Buzzard appeared and atttacked both floaters, one a chris green decoy and one a dead bird. Didnt put the pigeons off as we ended up with 108 picked !

ps not the best copy as it was taken from my iphone, best viewed on full screen

  5. decent bag :hmm: have to agree if you get showers throughout the day with breaks inbetween they will start flighting again after a shower and you can get good flurries of birds coming in.

I can assure that these were not showers, it rained solid from when i left the field until early saturday morning !

  6. Set up on rape stubble last friday. It was very windy and forecast for heavy showers so I set up under a tree. The day started slowly then it was as if someone had turned on a tap, they were thowing themselves into the front of the pattern (which consisted of a chris green floater, an air pro floater, 10 flock decoys and a magnet). I was thinking the old red letter day was on the cards , then around 2.00pm, when I thought it would get even more hectic, the heavens opened and that was the end of a promising day. Picked up 36.

  7. Any one else have trouble with the pinewood magnet on the spring drillings. I screw it a good 10 inches (as instructed) into the ground but cant stop it from working loose resulting in not been able use it. They offer a tripod attachment as an optional extra but £33 plus postage seems a bit steep. I know the soil is pretty loose at the moment but thought Pinewood, of all products would be able to cope with this.

Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and how to over come it.

  8. I remember when i got my first lab, i was telling some of the lads on our shoot that she had so many FDCH's and then so many FTW's in her pedegree....and old wise shoot member quietly put down his pipe and said "Yes but Frank Sinatra's brother couldnt sing"
