  1. I'm currently 20 been shooting a shotgun since the age of about 12. I started out with a little nikko 612 which I used to shoot really well with ( clays most weekends pigeons when the chance came ). I then decided it would be a good idea to shorten the stock as I'm not exactly big, even now ( 5'5 average build ) but I couldn't hit a barn door after. I then shot a miroku 3800 sw skeet gun which I got on very well with, felt similar and fast handling like the nikko being only a 28 inch. I then had a break from shooting after working full time etc. when I turned 19 I treated myself to a bettinsolli 30 inch sporter. I tried it out and broke clays. But after putting a few cartridges few it I don't have the confidence I did with the 3800.the bettinsolli handles like my dads browning. I have to really concentrate on a consistent mount and the gun is noticeably heavier and doesn't feel as quick handling. Even after being told it suits my build. I recently picked up the miroku again and it felt much more natural and was breaking targets I'd find difficult to consistently hit before. My question is, is it worth taking some lessons and keep putting cartridges through the bettinsolli and hope I can shoot it better with practise or sell it on and keep shooting with the gun I have confidence in. Sounds a silly question but I'm torn between what to do. Any advise would be great. I wondered if anyone else has been in a similar position. Many thanks
  2. me and the old man went up there today, was a bit of a refresher. i havent pulled the trigger in about a year due to not be able to afford to shoot more than anything. weather wasnt to great and was like a paddling pool in some areas. i shot a 24 which was a bit **** but not bad considering i hadnt shot in so long. i found the majority of the clays where all loopers. had a few crossers and a bunny today but majority loopers.might consider going most weekend like i used to if my bank balance allows, you shoot often in the oxford area?
  3. i did see there was a crazy bear meet on the 16th. me and the old man have shot there a few times. might be going to the one on sunday if i can bend his arm. i need some practice before beaters day. been a while since i shot consistantly haha
  4. hi im Adam from oxford, made a post yesturday but thought id introduce myself. i jus turned 20 and currently working as a mechanic. looked to join the forum for some advice. hopefully meet a few people with the same interest. only recently started shooting again. used to be into airguns. done alot of clay shooting when i was a lad, done that for about 4 years from the age of about ten with an old nikko 12 bore. after borrowing my dads skeet gun i bought my own bettinsoli sporter recently to add to my sgc. getting on well with it. dont have any decent permission for pigeon shooting really hopefully that will change in the next few months. do a fair bit of beating on 3 local shoots if im not working. been bought up around shooting and looking to get back into it merry xmas everyone.
  5. Hi all, as above looking to do a bit of shooting out in the field. started to get back in to shooting recently ( only 20 and used to shoot alot of clays as a lad ). been asking around my local farms etc with little luck. most places have their regular shooters that have been doing it for years. which is fair enough. so thought id have a stab in the dark and see if anyone would be willing to let me tag along or if someones after a partner for a bit of pigeon bashing. im based in oxford but can travel a bit. planning on going to a few clay shoots to brush the cobwebs off. i dont want to get as seriously into the clays as i used to be as it gets bloody expensive. recently bought a new bettinsoli which i seem to be getting on with. also got hide/deeks/n a home made rotary which i use on a few pigeon shoots on a pheasant shoot i beat on. any offers would be great happy xmas
