I don't use forums much anymore but just stumbled across this thread and thought I would echo the previous comments. Sporting layout is big, something for everyone, and a great day out. A lot of money has been spent on the Olympic Skeet and Olympic Trap/ABT ranges in the last couple of years, It is the 'Centre of excellence' for olympic disciplines in Wales. Most would agree you would struggle to find better OT layouts in the UK.
I consider myself very very fortunate to have this ground 25mins down the road, good coffee and great banter in the clubhouse too.

Not shooting related but was in Carmarthen area last year and saw the plate W4LES. Would give my left teste for that!

There is a little sporting club that meets here on a disused railway line of ours (Eardisley) 'Tram Inn Clay shooting club', don't know the dates but I have a phone number if you PM me.

Yep its beyond belief , all the hype and build up to this competition, two and a half weeks after its finished we still have no official scores published.

Yep, that was Alan with his new 'Fowling piece'. Both really nice guys. Cracking shots too. as soon as the results are published (god knows why its taking so long) I will post them up.

Ah I see, we all flew out together, Steve had a couple of guys that went from his part of the world, Reg and Alan. Alan made the Flash final in the standing disabled category.
Still shooting SW2000 when I can, that and Griffin Lloyd mainly.

Its not a paralympic discipline yet, but people have been working very hard in the last few years to get it included. Its only in the last 10 years or so disabled shooters have been able to come together, thanks to the Disabled shooters Group, and Sussex Disabled Shooters Group. Before this it was unclear as to how many disabled shooters were out there. This has been a similar story in other countries too.
Hdav, Who were you chatting to? not a couple of guys at SW2000? Results will be published in a couple of days hopefully, will post a link here when they are.

Diceman, the main problems with shooting from a seated position are range of movement (rotation to hit the more extreme targets) fatigue and target visibility. As we are lower down we only really see a slimmer profile of the clay. Also the higher injuries like myself e.g paralysed from the chest down have very poor balance and core stability resulting in the need to strap ourselves to the wheelchair around the torso, further reducing the range of movement. Means we usually have to attack the target and try to take it earlier, which can result in more misses. Standing disabled include problems like lower limb amputation, which the main drawback is stability and balance. The one armed guys are the best to watch, will blow your mind! Obviously very tricky loading, unloading within the times constraints of olympic trap, and the holding and swinging of a heavy trap gun with just the one arm. Hope this helps, any more questions just keep them coming.

Just thought Id post this up incase its of interest to anyone. We are trying to raise the profile of disabled shotgun shooting around the world. ISSF have put the video below up on their youtube channel. It is of the Olympic trap Grand Prix for disabled shooters which took place at the end of ISSF World cup round in 'Trap Concaverde', Lonato, Italy a couple of weeks ago. GB was well represented, with two shooters making it into flash finals, and one bringing back a silver medal. The ultimate aim is to have Olympic clay disciplines included into the Paralympics. If you know of any disabled shooters that may be interested in giving OT a go in the future please PM me.

Did the Olympic Trap GB shoot at bisley on the weekend. First time I have ventured into a GB shoot for a year or two. Light was pretty bad, and it was pretty cold which didn't help. Shot a 74 on day one, 81 on day 2, 155 ex 200. Pleased with that for a 'Wheely'. Forgot how friendly and how much fun the bigger shoots are. Shot next to Ed Ling all day, really nice guy. Exceptions to every rule no doubt, but im sure in this shooting game the bigger the star, the nicer they are.

Hi, not really up on Autos, so not much help with that im afraid, had a Hatsan, worked fine, and had a Beretta 304 which was excellent. My own personal preference is an over and under though to be honest.Theres quite a few of us disabled clay shooters about now:

Just had a day out using my MX2000 trap gun complete with Montecarlo stock and gold Perazzi lettering on the barrels! No one said a word. Go for it, as said before as long as its not a semi auto you will be fine.

I went up on Sunday for the first time. Shot the ABT/UTR. Fun but bloody hell was it windy!!
I was the guy in the wheelchair trying to stay upright in the gusts!! -
Use one on my Steyr scout for longer range vermin shots. Excellent, but very light, need plenty of practice and I only set the trigger when I am confident I want to take the shot. It is very good though, i hold my finger completely off the trigger, then just relax my finger and the light touch is just enough, no chance of pulling off to the right .

I have to do all my shooting from a vehicle, so pre-longed cold not a problem, and I spot myself using the ND3 with the laser focussed out wide, chamber empty, bolt open before anyone asks! Take a little getting used to but when you do get some action, and focus the laser in the view through the scope is very good.Fox eyes show up so brightly its a bit spooky. Not everyones cup of tea perhaps, but i'm a convert. Bloody expensive though.

Thanks for all the help chaps, already have an EU pass, and airline is in hand if I do go, so just one more thing, do the locks on the case have to use keys, or are triple combination locks acceptable?

cheers guys, will look into getting another case perhaps. I do have a padded perazzi bag that the case fits into for more protection. I was planning on shooting a competition in Italy, but is now looking doubtfull due to the ridiculas delays stil on going with shotgun renewals in West Mercia. They are currently dealing with applications from January! Remind me where my £2100 council tax a year goes??!!

Just wanted to pick the collective pw brain. When taking a shotgun abroad, via airline, is it necessary to buy an aluminium lockable flight case, or would my standard perazzi case with combination locks be acceptable?

See the target both eyes open, start to dim/close the eye off once mounted and moving the gun, the important thing is not to get drawn back the the end of the gun when you shut the eye, just keep looking at the clay. Easier said than done. Also it can be helpful to warm the old eye up a bit prior to shooting by opening and closing the eye a few times to get the muscles working. Have tried every other method of dealing with cross dominance, this is the only one that consistently works for me, Im no olympic champion but I am reasonably competent with this method. Everyones different.
