  1. I've noticed that when I shoot in hot weather my scores improve a lot, I can only think that this is because my gun fits me better as I'm wearing less or thinner clothes, do you think I could be right?
  2. You don't need to spend a grand, I bought this as my first gun 2 years ago, brand new for £495. Have not replaced it as it's so good and everyone who's tried it out has said how good it is.
  3. I've just been practicing my gun mount as I was told to by my instructor today, he told me to mount, aim and dry fire at a far corner of a room, I did it about a dozen times but the last time the end fell off the firing pin! Should I have used a snap cap?
  4. Do shooting clothes and accessories always have to match your gun then?

  6. Don't forget to take a pair of brass snap caps for dry firing practice.
  7. HaHa!! Just read right through this thread and found it highly entertaining. As a novice shooter I found most of the technical points and shooting jargon were a complete mystery to me. I now have my first gun which to be honest I have no idea if it fits me or not, I bought it online without trying it and I'm doing really well with it and enjoying every minute using it. The only advice I sought and have been given was from a friend of mine with 20 years of arms instructing experience in the Army, when I asked about gun fit his reply was "fit the man to the gun."
  8. I was in the same position as you a few months ago, I joined my local club and borrowed their guns for a few months to start with to get a feel for what suited me and ended up buying an Armsan Sporting as my first gun, it's only slightly over your budget for a brand new one but so much more fun to use than an O/U and I find I hit far more with it than any other gun I've used. This is the gun I bought; http://www.gunmart.net/gun_review/armsan_a612s/
  9. Hi all. Can any of you experienced shooters give me some advice on first guns for me and my 2 sons, I will soon hopefully be buying soon but only have a small budget for each of us, of about £300. Number 1 son is a l/h 17yr old, and number 2 son is r/h 12 yr old, we have only shot with o/u's so far but the lads quite like the idea of semi autos after seeing them being used at our shooting ground. I've no preference at the moment, I'm open to all advice but my budget is quite restricted as I need to get 3 guns. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. Cheers!
  10. Just wanted to say hi, I've just started shooting and have only had 2 lessons so far, really enjoying it and seem to be doing ok, I even managed to hit a few. Wondered if any of you are local to me as I may be looking for someone to shoot with occasionally, I'm in Northants. Hope you're all ready to answer some dumb questions from me. Cheers.
