  1. 320 bar, the jammy swine has access to a breathing apparatus compressor...

    Go PCP!

320 bar --- I'm a breathing apparatus instructor in the fire service. That's why am not sure what mechanism to get.
  2. springers are a lot harder to shoot than pcp because of the recoil. If you are new to the sport and can afford it i'd go for a pcp as a new shooter you will find it a lot easier, you then need to practice a lot before you go hunting you have to be confident of a kill and not leave the animal just wounded.

    andy.

I found a club in Thurrock in Essex I live in Dartford Kent . It's open on Sunday's I'm going to go along to see what it's all about. Possibly try some guns out there before I decide . But I agree practice practice practice .
  3. Wow thats a powerful one :-) maybe so if air is clean and have the right attatchment, its nice to refill in the field tho when you need to.

Air is spotless it's a breathing apparatus compressor

  4. yes you could easily use a 12ftlb air rifle for rabbits out to about 30-40yards providing its a head shot. are you after a spring or pcp? whats your budget? :good::rolleyes:

It's just something I was considering doing with a pal of mine . Budget tight what would each variation start at for reasonable rifle? Thanks for reply

  5. You dont need an fac rated air rifle for shooting shooting rabbits a sub 12 ftlb gun is fine, any quality gun close to the legal limit and accurate is up to the job.

A compressor at work is no good as precharged airguns require filling to 180 ish bar and a compressor wont reach that pressure, so a bottle or pump will be needed.

Theres many quality spring guns that wont need filling and are well up to the job.

Our compressor goes to 320 bar would that be of no use?

    Thanks for reply

  6. Do I need a fac for a suitable air rifle for shooting rabbits?

Or are there non fac ones that will do the job successfully ?

If I don't need a fac could anyone recommend a suitable rifle and the approximate cost? I have access to a compressor at work.

  7. Hi am reasonably new to shooting and placed a piece in wanted as I am trying to build up the equipment I need cheaply. Can I say you guys on here are great . I had an answer in no time at all.

Baker boy is a true gent not only has he donated some decoys . He has posted them free of charge. Arrived today they are perfect to get me started. Thanks a miilon Terry. The impression I have got of the forum in short time I have been visiting is that there are many generous people on here only to keen to assist a new shot like me.

The decoys are great and When I have finished with them and any subsequent gear I get . I intend to offer it on here to new shots as terry has done for me. Thank you

  10. I had exactly the same problem last week with a secondhand gun i had just purchased. Only it happened about five times in about 80 shots.

took it straight back to shop, who were excellent and offered to take gun back.I noticed it was only to top barrel and only with the Wincester carts i was using. dealer gave me two free boxes of express carts for my trouble.Avoided the Wincester carts and have had no prob since.

  11. Get a magnet and a couple of hyper flappers then place dead birds in pattern, this gives good results, although cheapest is shell decoys x 1/2 a dozen, better if flock coated and better if full bodied and better if fuds but nothing beats real birds and nothing pulls em off a flight line like a magnet :good:

Thanks for the pointers. what are fuds not heard that term before.....still learning

  12. Hi All,

I am new to shooting and have just aquired a gun and somewhere to shot, and would like to purchase my own decoys. Do I buy full bodied or shells and do I need flocked?

also is a magnet a must or can I make do with a couple of well placed floaters/bouncers?

Lastly any tips on where to aquire said items at a resonable cost? i live in Dartford Kent.
