  1. yea they do but only 4 for a certain period and iv already used 3
  2. haha fair point. thats kinda where im coming from. im pretty sure it wasnt the cyclists fault because the car was on the wrong side of the road immediatly after taking a turn but your right i carnt be sure. just seems a massive amount to ask of me when i didnt even witness anything.
  3. so long story short around christmas time last year me and 2 mates are working in some woods (im a treesurgeon) next to a road and small village, when we hear what turned out to be a crash. we run over and see a cyclist laying in the road and a car on the wrong side of the road after taking a turn to quickly and hitting the cyclist head on. we help as much as we can untill police and ambulance get there and then fill out witness statements although i didnt see anything just heard it. but this is where it gets tricky iv sinse joined the army as a dog handler and am just about to finish my phase 1 basic training, but a few months ago the mrs gets a summonds for me to appear as a witness. its going to be hard to get the time out of training and looks like i'll have to fund travel from the midlands to the south out of my own pocket! so do i legally have to appear as a witness? i obviously want to help the cyclist as it wasnt her fault and she was badly hurt but its going to be bloody hard to get the time out and i dont see why i should fund the travel myself british rail isnt cheap! plus i didnt even see anything, and id have to find somewhere to stay for a few days. has anyone got any experience of this sort of thing? sorry for the rant.
  4. yea i have shot live quarry before iv shot sinse i was a wee lad with my dad and grandad, althought its been 95% with shotguns so wasnt such a problem. yea same pellets and same charge in rifle ect. i know what your saying about stag fever and maybe im jerking the rifle when hunting in an effort to see if iv hit.
  5. now im thinking about it i think the problem is range judging and jerking the shot from being over exited. iv shot some which i thought were around 30 yards turns out to be over 40. its hard to easy to get wrong. im going to go out tomorow morning early and set out a few piles of stones as people have suggested good idea that.
  6. yea iv got the electric fences as well. i can never decide between sliding uder them and risk touching my back of stepping over it and risk catching my nackers! i usually slide under lol! i dont have many pigeon i bagged two magpies though, they wernt as hard as i thought to stalk.
  7. thanks for all the replies you make some very good points. its a .22 so i think my main problem is distance judging and more practice is needed. i always fire from laying down as im pretty useless at any other shots without a rest. i generally try to stalk them they just dont seem to come back out after iv fired a shot. i generally work the next field over and come back. a bipod would be ideal as would a range finder but funds arnt great at the minute.
  8. couldnt agree more mate but every time im happy my rifle is zerod i go in the fields and have misses. yesterday i layed a coke bottle on its side and shot the red bottle lid from 40yards consistently so im happy i can shoot. think the rifle should be good i always charge it to 200bar and when i got it the smith said it was running at 11.7 but i have no cronograph to test it.
  9. so iv got myself some new shooting permision and having a couple of weeks off work iv been making the most of it. its a dry lake bed behind some cottages (which is good fun as i can drive my frontera in and shoot out of the window) and a couple of acres of horse paddocks across the road. the only trouble is theres no cover in the paddocks to stalk them open fields and flat land.the rabbits are always right by the hedge next to thier holes, and the paddocks are borderd on two sides by a road making safe shots fairly limited. iv got around 5 in totall but must have missed around 15 due to missed shots or spooking them when stalking. so anyone got any tips of what to try? my rifle is a hantsan AT44 pcp and i seem to be able to shoot well on a range but the rifle seems inconsistent when rabbiting but might just be me. all shot are taken at no more than 40yards and with superfield dome heads.
  10. just wondering if anyone is a member of BFTO at bisley? me and a mate were down two sundays ago and got talking to a nice guy who was a member and mentioned another member was selling a BSA ultra. i didnt have a chance to get up there this weekend and im from newbury so its a 40mile drive. so im just thinking if anyones a member you could get me the fellas number and ill arrange to meet. or save me a drive if its already gone.

    cheap PCP

i really fancy one they look the dogs danglies and for a reasonable price as well. what sort of groups can you get? i could stretch to a bit more if the right rifle came along.
  12. spiderlegs

    cheap PCP

im taking the plunge and looking for a cheap PCP air rifle (non FAC) and looking to spend around £250. anything considerd but i really like the look of the BSA ultra face to face prefered.
  13. thanks for all the helpfull replies. turns out i was being a bit thick, the scope mounds were tight but the clamps holding the scope to the mounds werent. so the scope kept shifiting gradually after each shot before i noticed. the rifles shooting pretty good groups now. starting to see what people mean about the OX spring its got a real kick to it, that carnt be good for the rifle. in hindsight i wish id just saved the money i spent buying it originally and servicing it and got a 2nd hand pcp. ah well live and learn.
  14. I can believe it. But I'm only 24 and bought it new so don't think its that old. Iv put a few hundred through it today and still no luck. I can get some tight groups at 10yards but at 30 the groups over 2feet across! I'd be better off throwing it at the Target. Is it likely to be the moderator offsetting the pellet?
  15. when did they change over the washers? think the rifle is around 5years old. yea the guns still burning alot of oil maybe ill just fire off a hundred quickly then worry about trying to get it to group after. iv just been reading up on the OX spring seems like marmite people either love them or hate them.
