if you want the very best, Japanese water stones are the way to go but they're not cheap and it's something that takes practice.
I think I've got 5 (I'd say you need three; 800g, 1200g and 6000g with nagura stone) plus a flattening stone, at about £40 a piece it seems a lot of money just to get a knife sharp but you'll be amazed by how sharp a knife can be and you won't look back I've been using mine for around three years now and haven't noticed any real wear to them yet (though they do need flattening occasionally) so they do last quite well, I got the full sized ones which will obviously last longer but the combination stones may be a good place to start, I think two and a nagura (slurry) stone comes to around £45

Its a device to drag my shooting buddy away from the burger van so we can go and do some bloody shooting
Or it could be used for salmon poaching

I feel no guilt in taking responsibility for being a meat eater, dispatching, preparing, cooking and eating a wild animal. If you eat meat then accept where it comes from. I have a dozen lads at work who are currently non shooters, i openly talk about what i do and i now have them preparing pigeons and cooking them when i bring them into work, they love it and accept that ethically its better than what you pick up from the supermarket shelf. I'm taking them clay shooting soon, the first step into the shooting community.

Shooting live wood pigeon is a great leveller. That's the beauty of it. Being a good clay shooter does not equate to a shooter who can bring down wood pigeon cos they jink and weave.
Indeed, clays don't have wings.

Bald chap, specs, shoots pigeons, eats your breakfast leftovers? Absent from the last flush, there at Stevenage?
He's also a member of the Clay Pigeon Preservation Society, and the one who eats all the food at the Ploughshare Pub afterwards.

Well i shot 91/100 with mine today, and chucked 150 elay firsts 67mm through it on Fri at Mid Norfolk. and as usual it was faultless.
Munchie, would you be kind enough to explain your cleaning routine for the Maxus, as its a really reliable gun and i want to help you solve this problem.

Let hope no birds of prey fly over you when your shooting with them glasses on.

I agree, it had the potential but there was no imagination when it came to putting on good targets.
