This is not the case, only slight protection is given. Hard Chrome is porous at the microscopic level, which can let moisture and chemicals through to attack the base material. If the item is to be used in a damp environment, or where water based inks are used on printing machines, a layer of Nickel plating is required, prior to hard chrome plating. Paul

I want to sell my Browing Ultra Sporter, it has 30" barells, fixed 1/4 & 3/4 chokes, is in excellent condition with a small rub mark that the forend removal / refit seems to create but invisible with the forend on. The only thing is I have no idea of value and can't see any similar ones for sale, can anyone give me an idea of value? The receiver on this is all black and just has "Sporting Ultra" on the side. As someone new to clay pigeon shooting I am faced with a bewildering choice of cartridges, firstly 24g or 28g, is a lighter load a benefit or disadvantage? then shot size, are 7.5's or 8's a better choice? finally we have price, do higher priced cartridges generally perform better and if so why, or are the lower cost cartridges just as good? If any one can give some guidance based on experience I would really appreciate it. Paul
