I have both and the F3 is just in a different class to the Beretta, they are like chalk and cheese.

I want to sell my Browing Ultra Sporter, it has 30" barells, fixed 1/4 & 3/4 chokes, is in excellent condition with a small rub mark that the forend removal / refit seems to create but invisible with the forend on. The only thing is I have no idea of value and can't see any similar ones for sale, can anyone give me an idea of value? The receiver on this is all black and just has "Sporting Ultra" on the side.

Hi Paul, living in Dollar, I presume it's Cluny Clays you shoot at? I'm up there most weekends with a couple of mates, easily spotted since we all have black-stocked semi-autos. Send me a pm or similar if you're going up to cluny this weekend.
As for cartridge choice, try Express Pro-Comp in 28g, I use them in my auto and they seem pretty good.
Cheers,
Duster.
Not been up there for a few weeks or so as I also do Field Target shooting and there have been a few competitions lately. think I have seen you there in the past. If I see three guys with semi autos I will say hello and hope its you.

As someone new to clay pigeon shooting I am faced with a bewildering choice of cartridges, firstly 24g or 28g, is a lighter load a benefit or disadvantage? then shot size, are 7.5's or 8's a better choice? finally we have price, do higher priced cartridges generally perform better and if so why, or are the lower cost cartridges just as good?
If any one can give some guidance based on experience I would really appreciate it.

Interested in any feedback on the Blaser F3 sporting, It's an expensive gun and I would appreciate comments on it's handling, reliability etc.

Crome barrel cleaning on shotgun

Have a look on this site for information on Chrome plating:
http://www.electroplating.co.uk/chrome.htm
A note from that site on corrossion resistance may answer why barrels should be cleaned and oiled:
Note on Hard Chrome
It is a common misconception that chrome plating provides corrosion protection. This is not the case, only slight protection is given. Hard Chrome is porous at the microscopic level, which can let moisture and chemicals through to attack the base material. If the item is to be used in a damp environment, or where water based inks are used on printing machines, a layer of Nickel plating is required, prior to hard chrome plating.
