  2. fry them skin side down for a couple of minutes then turn the heat down and turn over for a couple of minutes then let rest while you fry some bacon with onion and a little rosemary, add a little cream sauce of choice, i usually use chicken tonight in a jar (chicken and mushroom), then cook some tagliatelle pasta and add the sauce when done, slice the duck and add for the last minute. serve with some nice garlic bread :good:

  3. You and me both fella,

well done Tod, you know that steel shot makes the world a nicer place, lol. I bet the ducks would rather be shot with lead if they had the choice?

Cheers fella, need to find some better steel cartridges though.

  4. if i could have a guarantee that it wouldn't jam i would buy one tomoz tod,i have owned probably 10 plus autos in my life time and they all have god dam jamed, and ive kept them mint inside as well, may be soon who knows, atb simon...

it must be coming up to a year since i bought mine, its had everything through it from 3 1/2 inch mammoth steel, 3 inch solway lead, various pigeon loads and even had it claying with light loads, i have cleaned it no more than 3 times and it has jammed a grand total of ZERO, cant ask more than that :)

  5. ye good shooting and as said nice shooter, i could own one my self if i can get my head around the price, atb simon...

Just do it Simon you wont regret it, theres no pockets in shrouds fella, i could almost guarantee if you got one you would keep it for life, i love mine that much,

  6. I love a good ale, try Goliath (4.1 volume), Hob Goblin (5.2 volume) and King Goblin (7.2 volume) all from wychwood brewery, Abbots is also very good, spoilt for choice at the supermarkets these days, also some very good golden ales out like Dizzy blonde, Wainwright, and from the badger brewery, Tangle foot, Fursty Ferret, Golden Glory, and Golden Champion. :drinks:

  7. Got an invite of Tex to go over and try for some ducks at teatime, got there about 6 ish and walked about 30 - 40 mallard off the river in hope of them coming back, got settled in some cover at the side of a bit of flood water and waited, then just as the light was fading 2 Mallard come perfect to my right, dropped the first and hit the second but it never dropped, not the biggest fan of steel but needs must i suppose, a quick retreive by Tex's dog and got settled again, then just as it was dropping dark Teal and mallard started dropping in, the teal were like bullets and the mallard were coming in from the far side and dropping out of reach, had a shot at some Teal and managed to drop 2 for 1 shot and another good retrieve in thick nettles, so 3 duck and one happy chap.

Cheers Tex, enjoyable as ever :good:

  8. Thanks Tod, reckon I'm going to take the plunge. The black model is nearly a couple of hundred cheaper than the max4 camo. Not sure if there's any other difference though. Thanks for the offer of having a try, you're right, it's a long way from wonderland, lol. What barrel length you got Tod?

mines 28" which i find just right for me and probably the most common length, i believe that Beretta have put there prices up by about 200 quid :sad1: which puts the RRP for a MAX4 at 2200 quid, i payed 1550 for mine from Swillington at Leeds which was 200 quid cheaper than anyone else at the time, give them a ring fella. :good:

  9. Florida eh....good shooting tod. Still hanging my nose over an A400. How's it comparing with the 391 Tod?

It's a lot better gun mate but a lot more money, I liked my 391 but this just feels and handles a lot better, the kick off system is fantastic even with 3 1/2 inch shells, it's a gun that will last a lifetime without ever wanting to change, dig deep and buy one fella you won't be disappointed, if you we're nearer you could have tried it out.

  10. Having got back from Florida a couple of days ago i was busting to get out so as soon as i got in from work i grabbed the guns and went off for a mooch about, there were a few pigeons floating about so stood on the edge of a wood and managed 6 pigeons for 6 shots in less than an hour so cant grumble at that, when i got back to the car i spotted a bunny about 80 yards away on the edge of a small copse so got the HMR out and quickly despatched it, so thats tea sorted for the rest of the week.

  11. Mount the gun 10 times with your eyes shut , when mounted open your eyes, if your looking straight down the rib you should be fine for gun fit and mount, shooting clays won't necessarily make a better pigeon shot but will improve your gun mounting, I know some good clay shots that struggle with pigeons, the main thing to remember is to make sure your on the bird, swing through and fire keeping the swing going the same speed as the bird, everyone will have there own advise and technique, try forgetting about lead and concentrate on picking the bird up as early as possible, keep the swing to the speed of the bird, pull through and fire keeping the swing going.

  12. Tod, can you get me a pint of milk, a daily mail, a pack of chipolatas ( not richmond ), and an ounce of snout please?
