  1. Is the hmr a cz 455 mate thinking of buying the same rifle with a laminate thumbhole stock what do u think of the rifle does it shoot well

Yes it's a cz455 with laminate thumb hole stock, shoots spot on, deadly accurate at 100 yards ( with no wind ) the 452 is also worth a look second hand and get a boyds stock if you want thumbhole. Payed about £700 for this set up but you can get a 452 a lot cheaper second hand.

  2. Just looked at chairgun. At 60 yards the energy is 131 ftlbs, by the time it hits 100yds its dropped to nearly half that at 86ftlbs. High energy and striking a hard target will fragment more easily I guess. Tods was around 80 yards, 106ftlbs. So maybe upwards of 90ftlbs and you're into explosive territory!

yes i guess your right, they mostly seem to look like this around 80 yards or less, 100 yards and above they usually look like an airgun strike although i will say everyone is differant, i think its a lot of things coming into play at one time like the angle of the shot, the range and placement of the shot, heres a similar one with nowhere near the damage

  3. Remmington or winchester, neither make a difference in my rifle ! Winchesters are the cheaper and are what am currently using.

Crazy really as they are all made in the same factory to the same spec apart from banding and color of polly tip.

CCI ,Remington and Hornadys are made in the same factory by CCI, Winchesters arn't.

  4. As said buy one already done as you will devalue a sub 12ft ib rifle by a couple of hundred quid, depending how much you want to spend you wont go wrong with a mk1 rapid 7, adjustable power, plenty of shots per charge if kept to sensible power (30 - 35ft ib) and very accurate, can usually pick them up for about 350 for a full set up. If you want a fancy rifle id go Daystate.

  5. Had a call from Tex off the forum to go over and help clear some rabbits and hares from the estate he shoots as they where attracting the wrong kind of attention shall we say, conditions were spot on for the HMR with very little wind, started on a small sheep farmers before dark and shot 9 off one field in less than an hour, definitly a bit of a problem there and did some good fairly long range shots, then met the estate manager who was waiting to drive us round the estate on the back of a 4 wheel drive pick up, spoilt or what, really gives you a 360 degree view of everything this way, nearly ended up over the side a few times when it got rough though  , saw a couple of charlies about but they were wise and vanished, had a great 2 1/2 hours lost count how many we shot, must have been 7 - 8 hares and 20 - 25 rabbits, not bad to say i was back home for midnight, picture is just a few of them as left some at the estate.

Thanks for a great night Tex
