  1. I am selling up all of my decoying equipment to free up some space. £60 collection only

    12 x FUD Pigeon Decoys

    2 x Full body decoys

1 x Bobbing pole decoy with foam wings and tail

4 x Hide net poles (extendable good quality)

1 x Large Camo hessian type hide net

Carry Bag that holds the net and decoys

Everything is in great condition, but I will get some photos when I am next up the garage to sort it all out. Collection from Biggleswade or Hertford

  2. Used Combro Mk4 with a few battle scars but in perfect working order. There is a superficial crack on the front plastic and a glued rail repair on the adjuster side. Not pretty but still works perfectly and half the price of new! Still has the plastic protector over the screen.

    £25 delivered

  3. Elderberry and grape table wine on the go, as well as the plain elderberry wine. I also had some blackberry wine last year that stopped fermenting way too early (my fault) so i have just put some new yeast in and it has kick started again. Hopefully will be ok but worth a shot anyways :)

Also just started our sloe gin, elderberry gin and elderberry vodka. The sloes we picked a bit early this year but hopefully should be ok.

  4. Off berry picking with the other half tomorrow. Our plan for this year is blackberry wine, elderberry wine, an elderberry and grape table wine and also some sloe gin and cranberry spice vodka.

Whilst out shooting today I also found two huge plum trees, one with yellow fruit and one with dark fruit. Is the yellow plum tree just not ripe yet or is it a different type (I know nothing about plums)

I will post up some pictures tomorrow of what we get :)

  5. It seems a waste to be throwing away the furs when shooting rabbits, so thought I would have a shot at tanning and see what I could end up with. I bought one of the white tan kits from Snowdonia and had my first shot with 3 skins this week.

Skinning the rabbits in a way to keep the fur is an art in itself

I now have half of the snowdonia kit solution made up in my outbuilding in an old brewing bucket, but would like some hints before I do my next ones. These have come out ok for my first go I think, but after 2 days in the solution i think I started drying them out too quick as some bits were very crispy before i started stretching them out. You can also see i managed to tear one in the process too

How do you guys to it? These are still a bit stiff to do much with but overall I am quite happy.

  6. Treated myself to a new air rifle today. Fancied a multishot PCP but didn't really know what I wanted, so have been to a few shops over the last couple of days and was suprised that I could get a Daystate in my budget, so I had to have it.

Its a Mk3 RT with the thumbhole stock, and is around 10 years old (not sure if this makes it an early one or not). I had a few shots with it before coming home and seems to be very accurate at 30 yards and much easier to shoot than my HW95.

It came with the Milbro moderator and Hawke Nite-Eye 6.5-20x50 scope but the scope seems huge for an air rifle and is no doubt adding to its heft. Might stick it up for sale and look for something a bit more suitable but will use it as is for the time being.

I have also just given it a good clean and run it through the chrono which is showing at around 11.4ft/lb which i am happy with. Shame I am on nights this weekend as I really fancy an evening out with it.

  7. Went out with Scott on Sunday night, with the new .17HMR and the .22LR. Luckily it was a great night, no wind and nice and dry. We ended up with 6 rabbits. The rifle was great, and can't wait to get out with it again, although I wasn't too impressed with the ammunition.

It was also my 25th birthday yesterday, so with the day off and a load of rabbits from the night before (and pigeons from last Monday) I decided to make a big terrine. Just had the first slices for lunch and it tastes great :)
