Does anyone happen to have the direct email for John Carter at Herts and Beds FLU? I have looked on their site but it only has the general address.
I have misplaced his card but need to send him a mail about my FAC application

Here's the poor defenseless creature in question
-
Thanks guys,
He was having a good flap around last night so I put him back outside and he managed to flutter off back into the bush, and I locked the cat back inside.
-
The cat has brought in her latest victim. Unfortunately it has a load of feathers missing from 1 wing so cannot fly. Not sure what to do with it, or what it is?

Is that a rod rest? Looks like a good set up!

How about a Ducati Multistrada or ST3?

Scott and I went to one of the new permissions today where the rabbits are not quite as wary, and cleared up 7 with the air rifle in a couple of hours
(See sporting pictures)Rabbit and leek pie for dinner tomorrow B)

Steers thankfully, but still intimidating when they sneak up to you whilst laying prone on the floor
Twas a good day out!
-
That looks lovely
Is there any advantage over the longer barrel? Most of the ones i have been looking at are of the 16" Varmint variety but thats just because i like the way they look
-
And what a choice there is
Went to my local gun shop the other day to have a look around the rifles and do a bit of window shopping since my FAC interview went well, but really don't know what i fancy. First calibre I buy will be .17HMR.
I know everyone on here recommends the CZ452, which they had in wooden stock, silhouette and style, but the also had a 455 which looks very nice but as far as my research has gone offers no real benefits.
They also had a selection of Savage rifles, and a lovely looking HW60 which would match my HW95 beautifully, but was a bit pricey
Should i just get the one i like the look of the best, and is there anything to avoid? I would rather buy well and buy once, so i don't mind spending a bit extra to get the best quality I can. I hear the CZ triggers can be poor from standard but take it that it is not hard to correct?
Very excited, but at least i have some time to research and ask question as the feo said it will be 3-4 weeks for the paperwork to come through

Just had the FAC interview which went great
The FEO seemed very happy with my attitude and security and he said i should have the paperwork through within the month
This afternoon i am going to spend a few hours down the new meadows as the farmer mentioned there were tons of rabbits about at the moment. What a great day!

I got the Argos one in the end, and very impressed with the quality for the price. I have it in the cupboard bolted to the wall and also screwed to the floorboards through the base. FEO has just been round and he was very happy
-
Those Argos ones look quite a good deal.
And the safe should be ok as it fits my scoped air rifle fine, its an old second hand one I was given by a family friend and is about 5ft tall. Plus I only have 2 shotguns in it.
Thanks again
-
OK thanks, i will have to pop out and pick something up tomorrow
-
I have my FEO visit booked for Tuesday and i just have a question about safes.
I currently have a tall gun safe which can hold 5 guns and also has a shelf at the top of it. Would this be acceptable to hold ammunition if i get granted my FAC or do i need a different safe with a different lock and key?
I thought i would ask as it would be easier to fit one before the interview rather than making him come back to check it.
-
Just curious, hardly worth getting upset about
-
Air rifle wise I have a HW95, which is fairly quiet but it a bit of a pain getting multiple shots off being a break barrel.
Just called back the FAO and i have my meeting on Tuesday afternoon. He also went through some topics with me so looks like i have some swatting up to do
-
Looks like a corsa or astra to me?
-
Just thought i would update this thread. I have still not had much luck with the air rifle, but after going out with a few guys on here (Thanks Alex and Colin ) I have applied for my FAC and have my interview next week.
I also met up with the farmer yesterday just to check over my boundaries on the map and he showed me round 8 new meadows that he said i can shoot over too
The rabbits in the meadows look perfect for the air rifle too, as they have not been shot before and there is plenty of cover to stalk up to them. Should have some nice varied shooting over the summer now.

Look forward to seeing you down the sc0tt

Thats good to know, i did'nt think of the alcohol content helping it out but that makes sense. So i guess there is no harm when siphoning from one to the other letting half a litre fall into the caraffe for a tester
Have you ever seen a ghost?
