  1. I'd agree Cook. Rumours are rife. One minute the Club House is going to be re-built the next the owner is off as Elveden Estates want to put the rate up. Personally I hope they decide what is going to happen there as it's ******* people off big time.

I will have to nip out and try the Cambridge grounds.

I recommend you do try out CGC, Karen & Mick + other staff are a very friendly bunch.

They are constantly improving the site, everytime I return there, they have built something new / added extra stands / landscaped another area !

Cartridges are a decent price too...

You can also get a great tasty Double Breakfast there for only £6 (smaller breakfasts are available, if you are not so peckish!)

  2. Hello mate,

As Rammer Burt said try The Cambridge gun club http://www.cambridge...o.uk/index.html , the entrance is on the twenty pence road between cottenham and wilburton, very friendly place without to many of the hooray henrys, it costs £35 a year if you want a membership which gives you a small discount each time you visit but you dont have to have it, A member pays £21.00/100 clays compared to £25.00/100 for non-members but you can shoot as little or as much as you want mate just check the website on the fixtures page and turn up on a day that has a practice session on thats when anyone can turn up,

they have a small cafe with very good prices to, i am a member as i also get a small discount at my local gun shop with the card to and its nice to take my Dad for a session to catch up with each other sometimes.

Also yes you are given a card which you put into whichever trap you are shooting from which activates it and you can just move around whichever ones you want at your own pace shooting however many clays you want from each trap, some people do them in order or others like me do them completely at random.

    Cheers :good:

    Hi smokinggun

    Just come acorss this thread.....

I'm also a member at CGC & was un-aware that discounts were available at other shops ?

Out of interest where is your local shop ?

    Cheers

  3. I *used* to give blood until a little medical trouble stopped me. After reading this thread, perhaps I'll see if it's OK now. I also have a slight case of aichmophobia... :)

One thing that I'd like to point out is that if you are O-neg, then your blood is special and particularly sought after. (It ain't *rare*, just "special".)

So, if you don't donate and are O-neg, please consider becoming a donor.

    Regards,

    Mark.

Yes I believe O- is needed as it is universal & can be used in medical emergencies on any patient, before they find out the patients own type...

  4. I'm going to give some soon.

Am I being spectacularly thick here, but what has weighing 20 stone got to do with it?

You are not alone, I wondered that too!

Think the rules are you need to be heavier that 7 stone?

That's a child weight though isn't it? lol

I'm 14 stone something, so I pass that rule easily!

  5. I'm B+ gave my 59th Whole Blood Donation 2 weeks ago. I give at the National Blood Transfusion centre at Addenbrooke's Universary Hospital, Cambridge. I go in my lunch hour when at work. Women can give every 16 weeks, men every 12 (as we can regenerate our iron levels quicker). I've just signed up to an Interval study to see the effects on the body by giving even more regularly. I've been selected to give every 8 weeks!

I'm also registered on the Bone Marrow National register.

Get signed up guys, you can make a difference !

  6. left one is pinewood. other looks like homemade.

I would not advise you do that , the tube is hollow and not overly strong , by trying to push it in over hard ground with a footplate you are likely to break it.

Thanks for replies Activeviii & Fenboy

What sort of angle do you push the metal pole into the ground at then ?

& if it is at an angle does it angle to the rear or front of Pigeon Decoy?

Looking at Pinewoods website it seems the 2 plastic winged decoys are theirs too, so was a pretty good deal at £16 + p+p then !

  7. They look like my Pinewood ones, with the crocodile clips on the spreader, the twist lock height adjustment on the pole and the flat foot.

    Thanks for your reply Cranfield

So the one on the Left is a Pinewood, this seems a better made pole than the RH one.

It has the plastic moulded cranked spreader, with thumb screw for adjustment & sprung loaded cranked spreader arms.

Also like you say a knurled twist lock nut for height adjustment.

The one on the Right seems a simpler design, almost DIY.

Think I'm going to try to source a M4 thread thumb screw for the height adjustment on this one.

Do you think it is advisable to weld a 90 deg footplate above the foot arrow head to make it easier to get into tough soil?

    Cheers

my new ones. 2 short 30 inches for the front, 2 x 60 inches for the back/sides.

screw into anything, even frozen ground!

    Hi Stu

Nice net setup there, you have a 2 ply Stealth net, but you have doubled up on the inside / bottom with another net....What type is that one ?

    Cheers
